Chaeyoung stifled a laugh at the sight of you straining to hang up the Christmas lights. The metal ladder you’d stolen from your neighbors was rickety and rusty enough, but you’d added at least 4 empty wooden crates underneath in order for you to be able to even reach the lowest part of the roof.
Before she could say anything about it, though, you held up a mittened hand in warning. Your girlfriend noted that you wore a blue one on your left hand (yours) and a pink one on the right (hers) as she closed the front door behind her. “Don’t,” you muttered, tossing the end of the lights up onto the roof. “I got it.”
“I’m sure,” the pink-haired girl chuckled, crossing her arms. Decorating your house for Christmas was your favorite thing to do ever since the two of you had been able to buy one of your own, and despite how difficult it was for you to do it on your own, you refused help every year. “Those wine crates are definitely not strong enough to support your weight.”
“Rude.” You rolled your eyes, swinging your arm back before trying to throw the lights again. Chaeyoung was sure that with the height advantage she had on you, it would be easier than anything for her to set the lights up, but it was satisfying watching you attempt again and finally accept her help. “I am a perfectly capable adult, and that means I’m also capable of decorating without accepting a giraffe’s help.’
In answer, she rushed forward and wrapped her arms around your waist, swaying and twisting as you shrieked and let the lights clatter to the floor. “Hey, this is sabotage!”
“Anything’s fair play if it causes you to let me help!” Chaeyoung wheezed as you elbowed her in the stomach, the padding of her puff jacket not doing much against the force of your arm. “And you call my hugs sabotage?”
You continued to wrestle with her atop the mountain of crates, your legs eventually starting to kick in midair as Chaeyoung continued to clutch you tight. “Give up, Y/N, I’m stronger than you!”
With one wrong movement of your foot, the ladder simply collapsed, one of the larger screws clattering to a side and rolling into the gutter. Chaeyoung laughed out right by your ear, only growing louder when you squirmed away. “Well, that’s going to be tough to fix.”
She let you down onto the floor, though her hands remained on your waist, and she bent down to place her chin on your shoulder as you stared at the completely destructed ladder. “Sorry, Mr. Kim.”
“In the meantime,” your girlfriend sing-songed, pressing a kiss to your ice-cold cheek, “do you need help hanging up the Christmas lights?”
You pouted at being forced to give in, slapping her hands off you with no real force whatsoever. As you forced the Christmas lights into her hands, Chaeyoung grinned and followed you obediently, satisfied with winning the fight. “Fine. But you are not carrying me, Park Chaeyoung, I mean it!”
