centipede is part of the possibility force, the enclave, which in this interpretation is extremely corrupt, shady, and and generally just suspicious who silently try to put away anyone who they find unfit for their perfect city. centipede is an expert in many fields and works quietly in the safety of his own home. nothing more than just a terrible neighbor

John Russell Moon Artist

As a result of his detailed studies of the moon this artist was the first to appear in my search for artists that worked with the moon in their art. He is not a contemporary artist but his body of work is definitely influential and deserves to be included in my Artist Research and Development studies document.

This is his Moon Globe.

Russell’s Selenographia was one of the most detailed maps of the moon available at the time. By recreating what he saw through a telescope, he was able to make the details of the moon visible to more people. Only a few of them were ever produced, but one of them is also on display at the National Maritime Museum. 

James McNeil Whistler , this is his painting 'NOCTURNE' , he was a second artist whom paintings of the moon I found interesting. A lot of 19th century art was inspired by the moon and particularly the scope of light thrown by the moon on each night as it progresses through the gibbous stages.

I created this moon globe from a graphic at NatGeo. This names the features on the moon’s surface and has tiny flags representing the manned Apollo landings and the unmanned USA Surveyor, USSR Luna & Chinese Chang’e landings. See the second image for the list also from NatGeo. Here’s their description of the moon:
“Likely born from a fiery collision between Earth and a Mars-size planet, the moon was once a quivering mass of magma. Over eons, it solidified into the orb we see today. Whether crescent, half, or full, the moon keeps one face perpetually pointed toward Earth. Its near-side complexion is a mottled mix of dark patches—the sites of ancient lava seas—and gleaming, cratered landscapes. The lunar far side is completely different, with a mix of highlands and complex terrains.
The moon has been known throughout recorded history. The moon’s largest features are named using Latin terms describing large bodies of water.”

MOONGLOBE This ridiculously awesome moon globe was made by the artist John Russell (maybe the finest British pastel artist of his time) in 1797. The poor moonmaps of his time “led me to conclude I could produce a drawing in some measure corresponding to the feelings I had upon the first sight of the gibbous moon through a telescope”. 🌖 23 x 28 mm watercolor miniature.
