I made this Moonjou animation a while back

I'm still really proud of it but I kinda want to reanimate it

Now that I've gotten around to posting How Long is Forever?, I thought I'd share a little snippet that didn't quite make it into the final thing. Liked it too much to let it sit in my ellipsus drafts so here it shall stay

"I don't really know how to tell you about my dream," Kinkajou started, voice full of confidence as she spoke, "But I can show it to you, if you're okay with that."

Moon's grip on their talons loosened then, eyes wide as her gaze flickered between Kinkajou and the pouch. Her mouth lay open as she tried and failed to find the words to respond with, only closing once she managed to lock eyes with her best friend. And perhaps inspired by the certainty she saw within them, she opened it again to give her answer.

"Yeah… yeah I am," another squeeze, "It's just… are you?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" Kinkajou giggled, "I'm the one who asked in the first place, of course I'm okay with it."

She couldn't quite tell what the expression Moon made at that meant. There was a ghost of a smile on her face, yet her eyes seemed to shimmer as she looked away. And it might have just been the lighting, but the scales along her snout seemed a little darker than usual.

"I know, I… I just don't want to pry into your mind like this."

"It's not really prying if I'm the one who let you in. And besides," she pulled the pouch over her head, letting it drop to the ground as she moved her talon to rest on Moon's cheek. "You know I don't mind, not if it's you."

Because you're different. Because I know you care.

Their eyes met again and now Kinkajou could see just how dark the scales on her face were, just how bright her smile shined as she nodded. She knew her own scales were more than a little pink at the sight. "I do," Moon whispered, moving her head to rest against Kinkajou's. "Of course I do, how could I not? You're… you're amazing Kinkajou. You make my life better just by being in it."

There were no words that could articulate just how happy she was in that moment, but she didn't need them anymore. Her feelings were shown clearly in her scales, in her actions, in her thoughts as she nuzzled into her best friend. Thank you.

In my head, Moonwatcher has Secretkeeper's features and Morrowseer's size

My girl is healthy and well fed from her upbringing in the rainforest, so I gave her some pudge and built her mostly on round, smooth shapes

Her face is very much like what I imagine her mother's to be, so I gave her a narrow, pointed snout and tried to convey a slightly nervous demeanor

Morrowseer's genes and her physical health led her to grow up to be pretty damn big (Winter for reference)

I wanted to emphasize her life in the rainwing kingdom, so all of her accessories are made of organic materials from the rainforest

her shawl and neclaces are woven from hanging moss

I gave her glasses for no particular reason I just thought they suited her

She and Kinkajou have matching necklaces because they are happy and in love
