Mega Lopunny! Ability: Klutz -> Scrappy
Power-Up Punch/Ice Punch/Quick Attack
Fast as heck with ears essentially being a third pair of limbs, this dancer-like pokemon is one of Selene’s main Megas and I’m gonna keep it that way. Her graceful style should be able to deliver powerful moves in ways that can throw her opponents off guard. I can just imagine her delivering a High Jump Kick as what looks like a dancing leap. The last move can vary depending on what is needed, but I like Power-Up Punch as Selene’s Lopunny has some surprising staying power. Also, Lopunny get’s Heal Bell, which could come in handy if Selene feels she’s weak to her pokemon getting hit by multiple status moves.
Klutz seems appropriate since Selene is the same way :P
Primarina! Ability: Torrent
Item: Choice Specs/ Mystic Water/ Z-Crystal
Ice Beam/Psychic/Energy Ball/Toxic/Substitute
Primarina has a lot of versatility and decent bulk, though lack of setup moves and rest as the only recover move means that she’s better as someone who uses a lot of attacks. Still, moves like substitute may be more useful in an arena that has an underwater part to it, toxic can be used to whittle down opoonents, and perish song can be a menace to stubborn trainers that will stay in (though as of now she can’t learn whirlpool). Rest/Sleep-talk set is also another interesting option. Given Lopunny’s flying weakness, Ice Beam might be the best coverage option for Primarina.
Mimikyu! Ability: Disguise
Item: Lum Berry (I doubt Selene is interested in Life Orb)/ Z-Crystal
Mimikyu is Selene’s second fairy on the team, but Mimi’s ghost typing allows her to cover Lopunny’s psychic weakness and Disguise is just amazing. I’d personally go with the standard setup sweeper set with Lum as a surprise way to deal with being hit by a status move. Will-O-Wisp and Destiny bond are also nice surprise options.
Ferrothorn! Ability: Iron Barbs
Power Whip/Knock Off/Protect
Ferrothorn is a pokemon with a crazy defensive typing, really only weak to fire and fighting, which has already been covered. Iron barbs is a free rocky helmet pretty much, meaning that this pokemon is great for slowly whittling down opponents and softening them up for Selene’s more powerful attackers. Stealth Rock is extremely helpful in dealing with Flying Types while Leech Seed is the reason why Ferrothorn is such a damn good wall. The last two moves can be reserved for STAB, Protect, or Knock Off to deal with pokemon that have items that Selene wants to get rid of.
Garchomp! Ability: Rough Skin
Item: Z-Crystal/Yache Berry/Choice Scarf
Swords Dance/Stealth Rock/Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Outrage/Dragon Claw/Draco Meteor/Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Fire Fang/Fire Blast/Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Another versatile mon, Garchomp appreciate’s Mega Lopunny and Ferrothorn’s ability to deal with Ice Types, and with two Fairy types and two steel types on Selene’s team there is little to no worry about other fairies. Given this setup, Garchomp can do whatever she pleases once she’s in and her threats are dealt with. Out of all the pokemon on Selene’s team, I’d say Garchomp is the best candidate for Selene’s only Z-Move (without Rotom’s help that is), though Yache Berry is great for a surprise against an Ice Type, and Choice Scarf is an option for the rare pokemon that would outspeed her Mega Lopunny. Stealth Rock is an option if Selene wants Ferrothorn to run Spikes. As for the rest of the moves, Rock covers for Mega Lopunny’s Flying weakness, whereas Ground STAB and Fire work great for those various Steel Types that her fairies don’t like as much. Of course, Dragon STAB is also fantastic as well, and sometimes you just gotta have a good old Dragon v Dragon brawl.
Skarmory! Ability: Sturdy
Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Tailwind/Spikes/Stealth Rock/Counter/Protect/Toxic
Whirlwind/Toxic/Iron Head/Brave Bird/Endure/Protect
Skarmory is the last pokemon with a fantastic Steel-Flying typing. Defensive as heck, this pokemon has been known for some pretty annoying sets in the past. Given that both Garchomp and Ferrothorn are also hazard setters, this opens up Skarmory to fill other roles. Roost is a must for such a bulky pokemon, and given that there is no other hazard removal on the team, Defog is generally a good option. The last two are really up to Selene, but Tailwind could really make this team oppressive to unsuspecting opponents. Whirlwind, Rocks/Spikes, Protect, and Toxic are also pretty nice stall options if Selene wants to whittle down her opponents, Endure and Counter can be great surprises, and Iron Head/Brave Bird are good STAB if Selene is feeling more offensive.
