Send me a "Dear ---" and I will write my honest feelings to them.
I was lucky enough to come when the rain fell softer, and now I can hardly feel the drops on my head. But, the flowers I prepared are more vibrant than ever. Either way, I’ve come to tell you about what’s going on at home. It’s nothing special happening, but I feel that you have a right to know.
Qiu-jie is training more and more, and she’s becoming quite the strong-spirited beauty. Yesterday, she convinced one of the guards to train with her; a guard trained in the archery unit. She told me that, when he shot one right at her, her sword sliced it in half! Though it seems highly unlikely, Qiu-jie isn’t one to lie, so…
Mingxia-jie terrorizes some of the maidservants, since they’re being quite lax in their work and in the end, she ends up working twice as fast as they do. Are servants somewhat of a bother to this family, at times? Anyway, I hope it doesn’t lead to bloodshed, like in Grandmother’s case…
Juan-jie’s been managing the household very well, with Father away on campaign. I’m learning to sew just as quickly as she is, but she also reminds me to keep my attention on the quality, as well. I wonder how she keeps her hands so soft, even when she’s washing laundry and cooking, and doing all those other things…
I would tell you more about Lan-jie, but I’m afraid that all I can say is that she’s doing fine. She usually stays in isolation, and comes out every once in a while looking the same. So, I guess she’s doing alright.
As for me, I’m feeling much better lately. It must be the fact that it’s almost autumn, and the heat doesn’t get to my head. I’ve been able to take more walks and the air is nice, fresh, and crisp. My cloak is comfortable as always and at times, I take one of my kittens along and hide him or her in my oversized sleeves. With all the colors and the cool air, it’s very soothing to do so.
So, Mother. We’re doing well, nowadays. I hope that doesn’t make you worry too much.
