"Moon Ring 2" AU

So we all know how s1e17 "Moon Ring 2" goes; Zac finds a Moon Ring, Zac gives said Moon Ring to Evie, the Mermaids try to get it back at lunch at Zac's house, they accidentally hit Rita with energy or whatever from the Moon Ring, they get her into the water, everything's good. 

That doesn’t make much sense (see below) so what if it wasn't so easy to fix?

It's said a lot how dangerous Moon Rings are if you can't control them and Rita getting hurt by a Moon Ring is the only real example of that and even that didn't have serious consequences, it was just fixed with the magic of water. 

The Moon Ring’s ability to send out a blast on energy like that, capable of hurting/stunning Merpeople makes it a defensive weapon. It makes no sense for the antidote to a Mermaid weapon to be the Sea. That defeats the purpose of it being used as a weapon against Merpeople.

So the water doesn’t work. Rita’s still unconscious and they don’t know what to do. Rita’s the one who would know what to do. They’re still training and they don’t know how to use Moon Rings, or know exactly what Moon Rings are capable of. 

There’s some other problems though. 

First, they’re in a situation where Rita could be exposed - the Blakelys and Evie are only a few metres away and definitely heard that splash when they basically just dropped Rita into the water. Plus she’s unconscious and under the water. 

Secondly they’re the only Mermaids around (that they know of) besides the Pod, and the Pod are somewhere out in the South Pacific. There’s no one they can turn to for help. 

Really their only option is to go to the Pod for help. The very same Pod they were kicked out of and the same Pod that Rita was cast out from. 

(I have started writing this as a full length fic but I’m not going to post any of it until it’s all completely written or I will never finish it. I have a tendency to rush to post things then loose interest once they’re posted leaving half finished stories that I fully intend to continue but never do.)
