Comment des mots peuvent-ils sortir d’une bouche où entrent et passent des matières déchirées ? Ne serait-il pas préférable d’avoir une autre ouverture pour la nourriture, celle-là étant exclusivement réservée aux mots ? Ou bien, cet amalgame intime de tous les sons que nous formons avec les lèvres, les dents, la langue, la gorge – organes buccaux servant au processus de nutrition –, cet amalgame signifie-t-il que le langage et la nourriture doivent à tout jamais aller de pair ? Que jamais nous ne deviendrons plus nobles et meilleurs que nous ne sommes ; qu’au fond, dans tous les déguisements, nous disons la même chose terrible et sanglante et que le dégoût ne se fait sentir que lorsque quelque chose ne va pas dans la nourriture ?

Mordred – Character Design, done for the the 7. Artstation Challenge, themed “The Legend of King Arthur”.

At this point I had established a solid picture of the world and the characters in my mind.

Even when the time is scarce, take the time to do this before you start actually designing. Research and a bunch of warm-up sketches can do the trick.

With Mordred, I had a thought through backstory in my mind and everything went much easier.

I made him Morgans companion, bound to her by a classic tragedy and united under a common goal.
