The price of life...
According to Thomas Jefferson “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”, & I agree 100%. In fact, I say, “The price of LIFE is eternal vigilance.”.
As life-forms gather in larger numbers, & societies develop. The need for the individual to be ‘eternally vigilant’ may diminish, but the need for vigilance remains, now necessary for the community as a whole.
The human race, the planet, we are in recovery mode right now, that is a good thing. It has united us, & at least for the moment, we are thinking in unison. Crisis has not been averted, not yet. But pandemics come, & then they go, some worse than others, some take longer. We persevere eventually, the only other option is extinction, right?
Anyway, the greater challenge is navigating the unknown. What lies ahead. In creating a new ‘normal’, a new sense of what stability, or family values means.
In that respect though, some things never really ‘change’, they just manifest in different forms based on the time & place of their existence in the Universe in general, & on planet earth & the (pre) history of humanity in specific.
Archetypes, things necessary for life to exist, human life in particular. The basic needs for example, food & shelter. Our ability to recognise, classify, organise & create means to address those patterns, relative to the resources available at any given point in the present, & how that will affect the foreseeable future. That will determine our ability to thrive and/or survive.
Take transport for example. No matter how far into the past or future you go, there will always be the need for transport. The modality will be the only difference, & that will be based on the technological state of advancement of the time. Right now we are in the midst of a global shift from fossil fuel operated to electric powered means of transport.
Our ability to have hindsight & foresight is now a necessity. We live in a time that we have the numbers & technology to make the only liveable world we have available, uninhabitable, in countless ways.

Food For Thought 🤔
People complain about guns, social media etc, they say we should ‘get rid of them’. Hypocrisy at best, delusion at worst. Take cars for example, in the US there are close to 40,000 automobile related deaths per year. Why are there no major movements to get rid of automobiles? After all, compared to gun related deaths, which are close to 15,000 per year, that amount seems almost astronomical. Why the silence?
