Building onto "long-haired Graham" AU: Long hair (as a person with very long hair) tends to cause a lot of issues:
• It likes to get caught in necklaces or velcro near the head (the hooks (sharp, hard bit), not the loops (softer)). It also gets caught it drawers if you're bending down and closing them and not watching where your hair is. This is why I have my hair in a ponytail 90% of the time in public (but you still have to be careful, of course).
• People! The audacity of people! I had a woman touch my hair and gush about it when I was just getting a drink. It would probably be worse for poor Graham in public since this change was so quick. Poor Graham!
• On the good side: When braided when wet, if you let it dry before you unbraid it, WAVES. The hair gets a bit wavy. Source: have braid my hair when it was wet before bed, then unbraided it when I woke up (my hair is also very thick, so braiding before bed reduces tangles). I figure Graham might go to bed with a wet braid on accident and wake up and unbraid it to see his hair be wavy (I'm pretty sure it'd be wavier than my hair when I unbraid it because Graham's is shorter than mine, thus isn't weighed down as much).
• Also, shaved long-haired Graham looks really cute!
Also: what sort of shampoo do you think would Graham use now that he has long hair? The same, or would he switch products?
Hm, maybe in the beginning he didn’t see the use of changing the type of shampoo he frequently used simply because he has long hair now, but ended up trying a few new types that claims to be ‘aimed at long hair’ out of mere curiosity.
Nothing fancy, but switched to one which has conditioner included and is a bigger bottle at a cheaper price. I do like to imagine he sometimes forgets to take care of his hair, which resulted in terrible split ends and frizziness.
Since he works with a lot of machinery and boyfriend somewhat being one he’s usually seen with his hair tied up, either in a ponytail, half up-do or bun (but the lazy/messy version). Like you described however, his hair still gets caught in various places and can be quite painful.
The sudden change was quite a novelty in the beginning (since everyone knows everyone), and it attracted a lot of unwanted attention.
Later on, everything kind of resumed back to normal, though he still gets some odd remarks or awkward/unwanted contact (though most comes from teasing from his siblings).
Wavy, long-haired Graham, he doesn’t see it, but some do think it’s quite pretty.
But also, somehow unrecognizable by many.
