A grin of a most mischievous nature spread brilliantly across the Inquisitor's face, eyebrows raising at the challenge. He'd only even said it (with a laugh, because how could he ever threaten Dorian seriously?) to combat the usual teasing. Now, however, It was clear he was genuinely weighing the pros and cons of acting on his originally empty threat. After all, a little retaliation from time to time wasn't too bad...

❝Are you sure, lethallin?❞ He leaned in with a rare confidence, happy to be on the other side of the jibes for once. ❝I've no wish to damage any of your assets - of which there are many, I know - by proving to be more than you are equipped to handle...❞

Restless in his rotunda, Solas traveled out to the battlements for some fresh air. He strolled along the stone path, letting his hand graze over the top of the ledge as he walked. His eyes were trained on the moon which looked so big and so close this high up in the mountains. It was a beautiful night, barely a cloud in the sky to block the full view of the stars. 

Briefly he looked away, and when he did, he found Dorian a ways down on the the other side. He went to him and placed himself besides him. 

“Out for a midnight walk?”

When Séaghdha is in love, he speaks of it in almost everything he does, often unintentionally. He truly can’t help it.

It’s the way he lights up when they enter a room, or the way he looks at them like there’s no one else in the world. It’s that particular smile he wears only for them. The unconscious touch of a hand or arm as he walks past, without fail. The way he always sleeps more soundly in their arms, how he’ll twirl their hair around his fingers until he falls asleep. The impulsive kisses, short and sweet; the way he talks about them to everyone else, because he just can’t help himself. How proud he is of them.

Or, more intentionally, it’s in the little gestures. Many little domestic things, such as making them food, or even doing their chores to lighten their workload a touch. Mending clothes, or perhaps making them a warm quilt for the winter. The desire to care for them, to make sure they are happy and healthy. Thoughtful gifts, such as something he caught them eyeing while at market, or perhaps something he’s made himself. Trying to support their own efforts, by lending his resources, his own time and skills, or some combination thereof. 

In short, it permeates. It’s honestly very hard to miss.

Séaghdha was already at a loss. What was he supposed to say, or do? He hadn’t thought it through; when Josephine had mentioned the most recent transgressions, it had been his idea to bring it up with his companion. The Lady Ambassador had agreed, of course, a ‘wonderful idea’ for Séaghdha to express his concern, friend to friend. ‘Creators, please let us still be friends after this conversation…’

❝Dorian, I’m serious.❞ He folded his arms, trying to look strong, sturdy. Resolute in his demand for the conversation. It was helpful his hands were small – he could tuck them against his sides where Dorian wouldn’t see how they shook with nerves. ❝We don’t have to do this here, if you’d prefer, but I…❞

Words caught in his throat, a jumble of half statements and unasked questions. Who was he to tell a man what he could and couldn’t do on his own time? With his own health, his own body? ‘Inquisitor’ didn’t feel like a qualifier, certainly. He couldn’t command the mage to stop, couldn’t close up a bottle like he could a rift. He didn’t want to, either. Not forcibly, not harshly. ‘Friend to friend,’ Josephine had said.

❝I’m worried. I’m really, really worried.❞
