What did pet do before they became a pet? Did they have a life before endless pamapering and sweets?

I’ll admit i haven’t thought too much on this since I scrapped the old story, but they did have a life before and it’s not really one they miss. I’m pretty sure they grew up somewhere in the naga territory, possibly a small town further down the the Nile, and left home when they were old enough to look for a better life, and boy did they find it :3
