i think what a lot of people fail to get about heartstopper and why it used to get/still gets (?) bashed for being “too unrealistic because the real world is not like this” is like. yeah. yeah it isn’t. i think most of us got that from all the leaves flying around and the pastel colours everywhere. that’s the point.

heartstopper is not a realistic portrayal of the world, it’s a portrayal of how the world SHOULD BE. in my personal completely subjective opinion, it is a how-to guide, if you will. it shows that if we’re all just act a little nicer, become a little kinder, we can make the world a better place. this queer joy can be real, if we try hard enough.

it made me feel this joy while being in my doomer homophobialand of a country, where i am technically a criminal for being bi, simply because it feels like a show that loves you. and if you have an issue with that, maybe the problem is you.
