I don't know how to shut the fuck up so here we go again. The Amazing Digital Circus thoughts under the cut, mostly about Jax and episode 6.
Pretty interesting to note that Jax views the rest of the circus goers as two dimensional [or I guess- 3 dimensional] because everything he says about them is only in response to his shenanigans [except like- Kinger? But he isn't around Kinger long enough to ever know that]
Like- Zooble's only 'the grumpy one' to him because all he does is piss Zooble off. All he does is bully or take advantage of Gangle so Gangle is 'the sad one'. Ragatha tries [or maybe tried I guess] to be warm and friendly to him so she's "the cheerful one".
Me thinks he's projecting. Because all he is now is "the funny one" he needs to believe that everyone else is also just an archietype? architype? character so losing them doesn't hurt. So knowing them won't hurt. So he can keep believing that these aren't real people and that the circus isn't his reality now. Hence "You know none of this is real, right?"
Pomni is the only character that we've seen call him out on his bullshit on pretending all he is a 2 [or 3] dimensional character.
Ribbit probably also 'played the part' and believed "This isn't real" and that's why the two of them got along so well, likely as a comedic duo, like- ANY pair of cartoon characters [think Gumball and Darwin, Spongebob and Patrick, Cuphead and Mugman etc etc]. But Ribbit probably couldn't put up with the illusion forever, resulting in him butting heads with Jax, Jax likely saying he means nothing to him and Ribbit subsequently abstracting. Pomni does this the entirety of episode 6, plays into Jax's delusions and then calls him out on his nonsense all in one episode [speedrun strats]. Its happening again and Jax doesn't like that. That's why [among other reasons] he glares at Ribbit's door in disdain. That's why he pushes Pomni off him after she hugs him. That's why he's so eager to have her "betray" him. He can't let anyone else get close to him because remember what happened last time? He likely does blame himself for not being there for Ribbit when he needed someone and even drove him to the edge. But he bandages this idea with blame on Ribbit's behalf.
Hell- maybe even Kaufmo had this belief but because he was bad at his clown role. [No one seemingly all that close to him and no one laughing at his jokes]. He couldn't bare the idea that this was all he was now and he was bad at it... kinda like how Caine started losing it in episode... 3? Whichever one the Zooble therapy sesh is.
But who knows, maybe there really is nothing there and I'm just looney. 👁️👁️
Maybe.
