💌 IMESSAGE — DADDY
EVIE: someone fuckin changed all the names in my phone to daddy
EVIE: so who the fuck are you?
teo’s half in the pool, sitting on the corner with both legs in the water, a small single-portion carton of ice cream in his hand; he doesn’t swim often, if only because he’s learned to be insecure and swimming in a tee feels so childish that it’s embarrassing instead of relaxing, but it’s hot and he’s still wide awake despite it being part-way through his work week and eleven at night. his rolled-up jeans were slowly soaking through the fold, and he paid it no mind, swishing his legs slowly in the cool water. “do you ever, like, think that something might just -- pop up and grab you ? like when it’s dark out and you can’t see into the water. —— or is that dumb ? i guess it’s weird, at least.”
dax had walked past this stupid vending machine at least four times, every day, for the past week. it all started when the bag of doritos caught his eye, only until he looked to the side and read the unfortunate ‘out of order’ sign; trust his luck. and that is where this saga started. it was day seven when dax finally stopped outside the machine, his tool bag in hand, pulling it out from the wall to examine the machinery from the back. he started to get to work in fixing this damn thing before he heard a voice, in a startled state, his head suddenly bounced into the wall behind him. “shit..” he murmured, peering out from behind the machine, “you’ll thank me after this, i swear.”
god , it was hot. why was georgia always so damn hot and sticky ? evelyn huffed as she moved thick , dark hair off the back of her neck “ it’s ridiculous out here. “ she whines from her place under the awning more to herself than anything “ you got a cigarette i can borrow ? “ she bats eyelashes at the other person nearby , glossy lips turning up into a flirtatious smile. “ pretty please . . . “ she leans forward against the railing in her short , white low cut sundress “ with a cherry on topppp. “ she coos sweetly.
‘‘ listen, listen. i’d do a lot better processin’ shit if you didn’t make any noise. listen.. y’hear that?? ‘’ motioning to the silence, he shrugs. ‘’ okay, ‘s good. no noise. i can work wit’ this. also, i don’t really care that i fell asleep out here..’‘ grabbing his white shirt, zion sits up a little bit and rubs his eyes. ‘‘ -- what time is it ?? ‘‘
laurel cringed as her body accidentally swung into a trash can, her eyes growing wide as she froze on the spot, scanning her surroundings for any sign of movement. it was three a.m and she had finally returned to the motel from work with waking somebody up as the last thing she wanted. she reached her room’s door, softly groaning as she watched the light above the number ‘19′ flicker until the globe eventually blew. her hand slid into her bag to search for her keys before realizing that they weren’t where she thought they were, eyes rolling back at the sudden memory of leaving them on the dressing table back at the club, “well, fuck..” she whispered, slowly turning before sliding down and leaning against her door; everything that could go wrong has g o n e wrong.
laurel closed her eyes as she took a moment to breathe in the fresh georgia air, exhaling complete contentedness. she held a ceramic bowl close to her chest as her feet carried her to the poolside where she suddenly sat herself down, one foot dangling over the edge above the water. she’d be lying if she said that she didn’t feel awkward wearing clothing, proper clothing, siting there in her rugged ripped jeans and basic tee. however, she finally felt somewhat like herself for once. “hey..” she started to say as a shadow cast within the pool, lifting the bowl behind her with a small smile, “want some cheerios? don’t mind the dryness.. i ran outta milk the other day.”
