Jmart at the fringe ... galaxy brain

I need to establish for anyone who doesn’t know me that I grew up going to the fringe every summer and have done my own show there and only realised AFTER writing this that tma was. literally pitched during the fringe. so this is not some weird ‘me projecting the actors onto the characters’ this was just projecting my OWN LIFE onto Jmart 

Jon is there with a theatre group from uni to do some overcomplicated and pretentious play that nobody quite understands. Martin ends up tecching for their show (among MANY others). Possibly for Underbelly? I think Martin would just really enjoy the big purple cow so I’m letting him have that

I think they end up staying in the same flat because someone dropped out last minute and Martin ended up as the extra (there are like six other people in the house, Martin gets the living room) 

Jon has a second gig that starts at midnight so he stumbles in somewhere approaching two each night, just after Martin gets home from his last one for the day and they end up just sitting up and drinking tea and talking about the weirdest shit they’ve seen that day. At least half the gigs Martin techs for are improv troupes and he is So. Tired. Jon talks about the absolutely batshit responses he gets from people when flyering. They try and come up with various theories for why exactly the floors in the Hive are so sticky (seriously what is wrong with those floors)

Their one day off is on the same day and they end up spending it together and they go to the museum (Jon just infodumps about everything and Martin looks at him like every word out of his mouth is genius). Martin has to assure himself it’s not a date (It’s totally a date)

There is definitely a time when they’re in the middle of a show and Martin gets so distracted staring at Jon because the lights make his eyes looks really pretty that he entirely misses a cue and there’s just an awkward pause where there was supposed to be a sound effect and he has to rush to fix it. 

OH and Jon’s midnight show? Is absolutely one of those Edinburgh ghost tours. One of the ones where the guy wears a cloak and carries a lantern about. He goes exactly as all-out about it as you would expect. One time Martin doesn’t have any shows after ten, but doesn’t tell Jon this and just shows up to the tour and spends the entire time subtly trying to get Jon to break character or laugh and it nearly works

Hey I just wanted to say that I'm absolutely in love with your art, and your style! I dont know why, but it always reminds me of old illustrated books I had as a kid, and it always makes me so happy seeing your work pop up on my dash 😁 also Martin's wee mullet is wonderful 💕

Thank you so much! It really means a lot!! Though as someone who hasn't gotten a proper haircut in a while, I disagree with it being a mullet. A mullet is a decision. Now Daisy, I've definitely drawn her with a grade-a mullet!

Hey, I just watched your first love jmart animatic and just wanted to come here and tell you how amazing it was! I was bawling by the end of it, it was all just so gorgeous and the song fit so perfectly just ahhhhh thank you so much for making that!

always thought there was something off about wanda.. her being so in love with vision and constantly sacrificing things for him made me cringe. the set up with pietro and 'do not go far from me' did touch me a little bit but the rest just.. felt so horribly flat? she barely spoke too, it was as if she wasn't there. when she said 'you took -everything- from me' to thanos, i was like '.. what? i don't remember, hun...'

yeah she’s super poorly written and just there because they need her there for plot or something. she never really does anything besides use her powers.
