Afterlife Scott’s First 2 Origins
mothsmajor + the OG vampsmajor
as usual, sketch version and yapping below cut.
sketch version!
yaps:
please just ignore that the umbrella doesn't connect properly behind him. umbrellas are the most annoying thing to draw ever, it broke enough of my braincells and i'm not putting more time into making it only marginally less cursed looking.
anyhow onto everything i did put thought into that isnt the umbrella i did not put thought into: yes mothling!Scott is half his normal height. I draw MCYT characters with a bit of height variance, so I imagine the differently sized origins act like a multiplier onto the regular height I draw the character as.
mothling!Scott has a bigger head and chunkier limbs though, for more of a chibi lil guy vibe.
now I know insects don't have bones so I'm not going to question how this works from a biological logistics standpoint but I imagine mothlings are really light, like lighter than you'd expect for their already-small size. Basically I wanted it to feel plausible from a physics standpoint that they can fly, so large wings compared to their body size and probably very light as well. You can see that the finished version has even bigger wings than the sketch version as a result. (As well as like... me actually referencing how luna moth wings are shaped.)
this probably feels really stupid from a logistics standpoint of "won't it damage the wings" but with the bigger wings than the sketch version, mothling!Scott's luna moth wing tails would trail on the floor behind him like a train when he's walking normally. That would probably make flying more comfortable though, which is probably more moth-like behaviourally.
also actually using a reference means I corrected the antennae in the finished version to look more like a luna moth's specifically instead of just. generic bug antennae.
mothling!Scott has fully black eyes, mainly since his mothling skin has different than usual eyes, but I didn't want to commit to going full. compound bug eyes. since i feel i'm more likely to make that look cursed rather than cute. i feel even with just the black eyes it's still a bit cursed especially with his super angular eye shape but that's something I've established as Not Something I Will Change, so I'm not going back on it.
i have no idea if mothlings should have ears so I gave him sidebangs that cover where ears would be. it looks mildly weird but shshs.
his hair is more curly than I normally draw it as a mothling, mainly just because I thought that'd be more cutesy in vibes.
I really like. couldn't. add detail to mothling!Scott's outfit because of the scale of the drawing. but I feel like the simplicity works in terms of vibes. the only detail I could really envision it having is maybe some flower themed embroidery around the chest pocket and the top part of the skirt-like overlayer thing?
yeah i don't have much of an idea what the colour-blocking on the legs of his skin is supposed to be. I used the curve for a translucent overlayer, almost like an extra set of wings draped around him. I can see a case for the lighter lines on his chest being like. dangly antennae/whisker/appendage bits from his head? since it's similar in colour. but I feel i can easily make that accidentally look cursed so I made it a sort of trim or binding line where his overalls attach to the sleeves.
part of the reason mothling!Scott doesn't have visible shoes of any form is that I'm not going to try any amount of detail at half my normal scale. but also I feel the socks-only vibe of just having the bodysuit's stocking legs works? both for like a more cutesy soft concept but also to go with the whole. moth who flies more than walks thing. built more for flying. not having soles is probably stupid but it can't be stupider than literally having wings that would drag on the floor, and it can be worked around through the same method of just flying everywhere.
mothling!Scott's lantern is a jackolantern because of his whole bit about the nether plant black market basement with his purple pumpkins that he really likes. so the regeneration lantern he carries around with him is a purple jackolantern. it's also got the same face as his scarecrow for maximum adorable lil guy vibes.
the itty bitty face on the jackolantern was so hard to get right... drawing at half scale is not something i want to try again in a while, no matter how much I love ALSMP. honestly the main ALSMP designs I am thinking of ever doing are like. Shelby or Sausage's first two origins. if I want to suffer I might give Dullahan Joey a spinal cord kusarigama but I feel no one wants to see me do MCYT as Dullahan Jiro part 2 electric boogaloo. because that's just such an obscure fandom overlap that like. im the only person in it.
anyhow the OG vampsmajor! so yes parts of this are the same as my v!Scott design. but also a good amount of it is different. some parts to reflect the era difference between the skins, some parts that are more ALSMP-lore-specific headcanons.
the main missing details I've noticed on the old ALSMP vampire!Scott skin is that the cape doesn't have its gold clasps and he doesn't have the red middle jewel of his jabot brooch. so, no decorative chains on the cape and no jabot.
replacing the jabot with a luna moth brooch is an idea I stole from User Redstonebug (@redstonebug). they're really cool and an amazing artist! anyhow i love it, it's very fitting. he's absolutely the edgelord to do it with the whole "my conscience died with the moth" bit.
the red ribbons on his sleeves are also only on the VSMP version, so ALSMP vampire!Scott has untied giant puffy sleeves. which I feel would be less of a problem since I made ALSMP vampire!Scott a sword wielder, while my v!Scott design had a bow. (mainly like, no worries about the bowstring catching on his sleeves and leading to messy accidents. now i'm pretty sure it'd still be annoying cumbersome to actually use the sword with how he has to offhand the umbrella during the day, so it's mainly a holdover from before he would burn. he can teleport-yeet people after all.)
also I'm pretty sure ALSMP vampire!Scott has a full-length cloak while stage 3 v!Scott has a much shorter capelet.
one of the bitty details I have in mind for ALSMP vampire!Scott is that he literally covers up as much as socially acceptable since he literally bursts into flames in the sun, which is significantly more extreme than VSMP's sizzling that doesn't actually deal damage. hence gloves and a high-collared undershirt. it's not clear without colouring but the undershirt has sleeves, so when the wide sleeves on his blouse slide back from movement you'd see the fitted black sleeves of his undershirt. also the collar on his undershirt is a callback to the collar of mothling!Scott's bodysuit.
with ALSMP vampires not having claws, it's also just possible for him to wear gloves from a logistics standpoint. and the white gloves associated with the upper-class of the gothic horror era fit the concept.
as an extension of the not having claws bit, it means he will need a melee weapon. so I changed the hip quiver of arrows for a bow to be a sheathed sword instead. ALSMP also has a mod that makes it so when a player is not holding their sword it appears on their side like it's sheathed, which i think is a cool detail to reference.
he has an extensively repeated "dark magic swirl" motif, on the sword, the dangling bits on his belt, and his earrings. because ALSMP vampires can't turn into bats and don't actually have any bat-related abilities, I felt it would be fitting to get rid of any bat motifs I'd used on my v!Scott design and change it to something else. I imagine the dark swirls could be a reference to shadow!Shelby, since she did found the League of Villains and they were allied for a bit. even after she leaves the team and gets a new origin, I can see him keeping it as like. a reminder of what she used to be in a "you can't escape being evil" way.
I like the exaggeratedly flared floof-bottom pants from my MonCo AU Scott drawing a lot, so I will be reusing it. I made them shorter here though so they'd be less likely to get dirty.
new shoe design mainly because I never thought about what the top part of the shoes in my v!Scott design would look like. also i feel the strappy heels and stockings fit ALSMP vampire!Scott's vibes more? less formal, he doesn't have that status to rely on, instead building up the reputation of being a scary bad guy from the ground up. he's just a guy going through a bunch of shenanigans and currently in his edgy phase.
plus with the gigantic umbrella is vibe is more like. he just wants to go for a stroll. but he happens to be really petty and no longer got any hinges so if you annoy him in the slightest he will be teleport-yeeting you with murderous intent. goes along with how his response to people reacting to his sudden villain arc being "eh im just like this now, can't i have hobbies".
today is not the day i care enough about logistics to stop putting characters in ridiculously tall platform hells.
that's all my yaps for this one!
