BJJ Class #51
Wednesday 08/26/15
Started Class with some Judo led by Andy Sensei. Just walking back and forth taking turns stepping in for a hip throw with either your hand around the waist or holding both sleeves. Then James took over and we looked some more at escaping mount. He really emphasized the importance of turning your knee out and down to the ground on the trap and roll. And when you elbow escape people will sometimes try to window wiper pass to side control and we looked at how you can trap their leg if you keep your knee on their butt. Some people will try to go to technical mount. Switch your frame from your hand to your elbow to prevent that. If they do get to technical mount, defend your neck with your cross hand grabbing high on the wrist, get to your knees, grab their ankle that’s by your waist, bridge up, shrimp back and pull your knee in under theirs, trap the ankle with your other foot and roll them back. I struggled getting my knee under but my partner was pretty stiff in the hips and there were a few points where I could have just gotten straight out without sweeping.
