But if I podium, you have to come surfing with me.” “Deal,” Carlos had smiled, hair flopping in front of his alcohol tinted face.  So. It’s the hardest trail, the sun is far too hot and Carlos Sainz is sweating beautifully as he downs his water bottle, thighs sinfully spread as he rests on a rock. His eyes are unsubtly raking up and down Oscar’s body, like he’s hungry. Or appreciative. Or both, Oscar’s too winded to be picking apart reactions and emotions.

so . mountain calling is just this post by the lovely @girldriveroscar ,.,.i am normally not moved by carcar but in this one instance. my brain is going supersonic . [im not gonna spoil any more so im sharing what u have already read hehe]

All of it is stupidly cliche.  Some idyllic rocky trail, all lush greenery to accompany the picture book views and the distinct scent of the sea. Flowers are the undernote, zipping by in his peripheral vision. Oscar knows how to appreciate beauty when he sees it. And Carlos. Cherry cheeked, woodsy, citrusy Carlos is beside him—tan from the sun that’s tucked behind clouds, generic branded navy blue bodysuit clinging to his deliciously toned legs that seem to stretch on for miles. L’amore dice Ciao might as well be playing. Paired with the smile that never seems to being fading from Carlos’ face as he rambles on about how he hates England, he misses Maranello, Monaco is so much more romantic— “I don’t,” Oscar huffs out, struggling to keep pace, “Don’t think this is much more romantic than London, mate.”  Carlos laughs, “Do not worry, we are near a stopping point. Shade included, too.” “Thank god,” Oscar mumbles under his panting, leaning forward on his bike in a vain attempt to relieve the slight burning in his thighs.  All because of a stupid fucking bet. And. three people have asked me about sunburnt orange and i fear i have nothing to show for it other than — that heatstroke painting i did of a lando, but this time in fic form with oscar losing his mind at sunburnt lando with nipple piercings. coupled with gym sex because lando also loses his mind about how much oscar has beefed up. tbh just two losers absolutely obsessed with each other . and lando being whiny bc his sunburn still hurts .

The Six Lakes Calling

The Dream

saamss: EMMA. you awake?

emma_wanderlust: saamss it's 2am what's wrong??

saamss: i had the strangest dream

saamss: and i can't shake it off

emma_wanderlust: tell me everything

saamss: okay so... i was standing on this rocky shore

saamss: my feet were cold, like ACTUALLY cold - i could feel the mountain air biting through my jacket

saamss: and in front of me was this lake

saamss: emma, the water was SO blue it didn't look real

saamss: like someone had melted sapphires and poured them between mountains

emma_wanderlust: okay that's actually beautiful imagery

saamss: but that's not even the strange part

saamss: the mountains around the lake were massive - snow-capped peaks reflecting perfectly in the still water

saamss: there were these colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind

saamss: i could HEAR them - that gentle flapping sound

saamss: and smell the crisp mountain air mixed with something floral

saamss: maybe wildflowers?

emma_wanderlust: this is so detailed for a dream

saamss: I KNOW

saamss: i stood there completely alone but i didn't feel lonely

saamss: i felt... peaceful? complete?

saamss: then i heard this voice

saamss: not scary - it was warm, almost like a whisper carried by the wind

saamss: it said "five more await you"

emma_wanderlust: five more WHAT?

saamss: THAT'S what i wanted to know!

saamss: i turned around looking for who spoke

saamss: but there was just the lake, the mountains, the endless sky

saamss: and this overwhelming feeling that i was supposed to FIND something

saamss: like the dream wasn't showing me a place - it was showing me a destination

saamss: a journey i'm meant to take

emma_wanderlust: saamss you're giving me chills

saamss: when i woke up, my pillow was wet

saamss: i'd been crying in my sleep

saamss: but not sad crying - it felt like... relief? or recognition?

saamss: like i'd remembered something important i'd forgotten

emma_wanderlust: okay this is deep

saamss: i couldn't go back to sleep so i googled "six sacred mountain lakes"

saamss: because somehow i KNEW it was six

saamss: "five more await you" = there were six total

emma_wanderlust: and...?

saamss: emma. they EXIST.

saamss: LOOK AT THIS

saamss: it's the EXACT lake from my dream

saamss: same mountains, same impossible blue color

saamss: even the prayer flags in the same position

emma_wanderlust: wait WHAT

emma_wanderlust: that's not possible

saamss: but it IS

saamss: these are actual places in the Himalayas

saamss: they're called the Six Sacred Lakes

saamss: people trek to all six of them on a pilgrimage

saamss: emma i've never seen photos of these lakes before

saamss: i've never researched himalayan treks

saamss: but i DREAMED this place in EXACT detail

emma_wanderlust: okay that's... that's actually wild

emma_wanderlust: how is that even possible?

saamss: i don't know

saamss: but i can still feel the cold air on my skin

saamss: i can still hear those prayer flags

saamss: and that voice saying "five more await you"

saamss: what if dreams aren't random?

saamss: what if they're places calling to us?

saamss: places we're MEANT to find?

emma_wanderlust: okay mystic saamss 😂

emma_wanderlust: but honestly... that gave me goosebumps

emma_wanderlust: the way you described it

emma_wanderlust: i could picture myself there

saamss: exactly!!

saamss: and here's the thing

saamss: i'm not someone who believes in signs or destiny or whatever

saamss: but this feels DIFFERENT

saamss: like the lake reached across whatever separates dreams from reality

saamss: and tapped me on the shoulder

saamss: "hey, we're here. we've been waiting. come find us."

emma_wanderlust: i'm actually getting emotional reading this

emma_wanderlust: i don't know why

saamss: i'm going to research everything tomorrow

saamss: the six sacred lakes trek

saamss: why they're sacred

saamss: what people experience there

saamss: something about these lakes...

saamss: i feel like i NEED to understand

saamss: no - i need to GO there

saamss: i need to stand at that lake for real

saamss: feel that cold air, see that impossible blue water

saamss: and find out what the other five lakes are

Okay, blöde Frage, aber gibt es irgendeine regionale oder geschäftliche Einschränkung rund um die aktuelle Mountain Calling-Edition von essence? Ich habe Gutes besonders über den weißen Lack ("Snow Alert") gehört und wollt mir unbedingt den und noch einen anderen besorgen. Und normalerweise hab ich auch keinerlei Probleme damit, solche Sachen beim Müller zu finden, aber diesmal... nix. Also, es ist noch nicht mal so, dass die Edition ausverkauft ist oder so, da ist einfach gar nix, keine Aufsteller oder Werbung oder so. Und wir reden hier vom Müller in einer der größten Städte Deutschlands, nicht in irgendeinem kleinen Nest-Laden (wobei ich in letzterem auch geschaut hab und auch da gab's nix). Ich will morgen mal noch bei Rossmann und dm schauen, vielleicht hab ich da mehr Glück, aber ich verstehe überhaupt nicht, warum ich da bis jetzt noch kein bisschen fündig geworden bin. Laut essence läuft die Sache auch noch den ganzen Januar hindurch und ich war sowieso auch schon im Dezember auf der Suche, aber auch da rein gar nichts. Gibt es irgendwelche Tricks beim Ergattern dieser Waren oder gibt es anscheinend wirklich Läden, die das Ganze nicht führen?

Like Defne and Ashley one year earlier we knew months in advance that Jon and John would be leaving Oshawa come September and we resigned ourselves to those facts. With John having been a team member for one full year and a patron of Broken Arts for two years we knew we had to give him a proper send-off.

Tradition called for John to headline his show. It was the second Mountain Calling appearance at Soundtracked but the first as a four-piece band. Peterborough musician I, The Mountain had come to our attention on Canada Day at the lake and Cane Toad Bruce McKenna, who had moved to Ottawa for university but was back in town for a few weeks, rounded out the lineup.

There were 11 people totaling the performers and Broken Arts members; 12 people paid at the door. We had realized by this point that attendance dropped significantly for shows held between April and August but even by summer standards the number was dismal. We had got three times as many people out for our August 2012 show. We had been losing patrons steadily throughout 2013 and now we were losing John too, one of our biggest supporters for years. We still advertised and promoted every show. We handed out flyers and our Facebook likes were upward of 600. Yet of those 600 individuals less than 25 came out to say goodbye to a year-long team member. The fear that nobody really cares about us or what we do began to fester.
