The Bishop's rather forlorn demeanor did not escape his notice while studying the map, only lifting his gaze in time to see Hazel turning back to face him fully. Nonetheless, that comment elicited a laugh from Hakkai.
"Sounds fair enough. With our luck though, the coin might just land on its side." It's a joke, of course. Things may have always ended up in an uncanny stalemate between the two of them when it came to gambling, but what were the odds of the same happening on a simple coin toss?
Then Hazel addressed another supposed issue. Oh boy... He saw this coming, but not this early into their trip.
"It's a rough estimate, yes. On the assumption that we ration them well. But..." Hakkai paused, eyeing the other with an odd mix of pity and disapproval. Low-key scathing.
"At the pace we're going, I suspect it'd take us far longer to reach our destination. And wouldn't we be in a pickle then..." He'd expect everyone involved in this trip to pull their own weight, for he sadly did not possess a big hulking physique capable of carrying days' worth of supplies on his back.
—Ah, he sure did miss Hakuryuu. Things would be a whole lot easier with him around. It did feel rather odd to have his shoulder bare all morning. Even then Hakkai cut a smaller piece of his food at breakfast out of pure habit.
"We may actually have to resort to a wager just to keep motivation up-" Was that a suggestion or a challenge? Perhaps a bit of both. Even after he was just 'jokingly' pointing out how futile it would be.
