An Environmental Movement I Support
I first came across this organization called 350.org when I watched a video on YouTube that called for a day of environmental change on September 24th, 2011. It was called “Moving Planet,” and it was a huge international success. 350.org is and organization founded by Bill Mckibben, who is an environmentalist and author who has written extensively on the impact of global warming. The organizations purpose is to build a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis and push for policies that will put the world on track to reduce the amount of CO2 from 392 parts per million back to 350 ppm. 350.org has a facebook fan page with over 176,000 users and a YouTube channel with over 3,000 subscribers.
On Sept. 24th the world Moved the Planet by demanding solutions to the climate crisis. It was called Moving Planet. This was our way of moving and inspiring. Enjoy!
Moving Dot
Strange things happen in the sky... WTH is that greenish moving dot
Environmentalists of all ages gathered in downtown McAllen Saturday with their bikes, roller blades, signs and their good spirits to begin their march. They came together to bring awareness to the public and their government representatives about riding bicycles more often and being aware of how much carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere. Throughout the march, some individuals rode their bikes while others simply walked.
"We deal in ripples," Jorge Trujillo, a biology major and co-organizer of the march, said. "One little ripple just makes another ripple grow stronger."
