Life is moving so fast. We are moving in 108 days. I am going to hopefully try to conceive as long as my donor is still on board in about 10 days... My psoriasis has been flaring up like crazy, and I am determined to control it with my Ayurveda. I am having a hard time calming my mind and that only makes matters worse. Here is to a better tomorrow. <3

Home is where the heart is.

Michael had originally brought up the idea of moving to Alaska. He had mentioned that he had wanted to move up north when we had first met. I met him with mutual excitement. Almost a year and a half later we are trekking from Phoenix, Arizona, USA to Anchorage, AK, USA.  

The distance we will be driving is a total of 3,654.8 miles over about 62 hours. We find that we are both more excited about it by the minute. Kitty, such an original name for our one year old cat, has no idea of the drastic change he will be experiencing. I will be posting the preparations we are taking to take such a long drive with our cat later on. From the articles I have read about traveling with pets it seems that there is a universal approach: ‘My cat would never!’ Kitty isn’t like normal cats. When I adopted him I had a dog who practically raised him. If Kitty could bark he would. I regress. I have always been one for adventure. My background consists of being born in Puerto Rico, United States territory, Caribbean Islands to living throughout a multitude of East Coast states to Arizona now. In addition, the amount of hours I have put into road trips between all of these states is intense. Michael, who is a US Army Veteran, has also traveled around the United States and other beautiful countries on deployments. I feel that it is our background in living a relatively unstable life that is preparing us for such a move. I am beside myself with gratitude to have found someone who is willing to travel the world with me and I know he feels the same way. Even kitty, a feral kitten, has adapted wonderfully to my moves thus far. Therefore, I welcome you to continue reading our posts, looking at our photographs of the preparation to move, the actual road trip, and our life in Alaska, as well as the videos we will be posting along the way. As the Alaskan state motto states, “North to the Future.”

Week 3

October 3- It has been over a week since my last post, but Thursday made 3 weeks out here! Our stuff finally arrived, however, more items are broken or missing than in any other move. The packing team did a horrible job and the delivery people were short on time so we were a little neglected. It wasn't the delivery teams fault but their company failed to realize that people in the Bush do things on their own time. So they only had a few hours to deliver our boxes before rushing off to make their flight. The swing wasn't put back together, neither was Gs little trampoline but most irritating is that due to their rushing I feel some things were missed. For those of you that haven't done a professional move before here is the system. Every box is marked with a number and that number is put on an inventory sheet along with a description of what the item is or what's in the box. Then on delivery day they bring in your items calling out numbers and you mark them. At the end you should have checks beside all your things. Well, in the rush of them calling out numbers they didn't always wait for the repeat to make sure we marked the correct number. Also, to make matters even more fun, right in the beginning G throws up, so I have to rush to take care of her and clean up. We go from having two people making sure it's there to one person. Now, all of our moves I've done this alone. I know how it works. I have a system in place that keeps things going smoothly. Checking and repeating numbers while the mover allows me to direct them where to go before the next number is called. This time I am a mom. This time I have a sick 3 year old. This time they are not waiting, but dropping stuff as fast as possible in order to make their flight. This is how things get missed. My husband did his very best while I was cleaning up G and the bathroom, but I do know that some boxes didn't get checked. And when this was brought up to the team we were told, "Just claim it." They couldn't wait for me to try to find the missing boxes before papers were signed. After they left we started noticing funny things....like how none of our high value items were marked, how there wasn't a separate sheet for them, how no initials were on the boxes of the packers. Then while unpacking I discovered that they used clothing to wrap items. If only they made some sort of special paper to wrap breakable items in...if only....if only they had that then perhaps my things wouldn't have gotten broken....if only they labeled the Xbox as a high value item and wrapped it special, perhaps it would still work. *sigh* At least I now have my own stuff and can start making this house feel like a home. I've finished everything except the kitchen and living room. Unfortunately, that is the bulk of where things are and I need organization to guide me.
