‘How could you possibly think this was okay?’ Calum asked, eyes wide with a mixture of fury and bewilderment and horror.

‘Calum you have no idea what it was like for me.’ you mutter, desperately trying to keep your voice level. 

‘Yeah you’re right, I don’t have any idea because you never fucking told me anything.’ He spat, hands clenched into fists by his side. 

‘How could I tell you? It’s not the kind of thing you just bring up over the phone!’ you finally yelled, voice cracking along with your heart inside your chest. ‘Hi Calum, I know we broke up before you left for tour but turns out I’m pregnant! Just off to get an abortion now, text you later!’ you cruelly mimicked a voice of happiness and ease, one you hadn’t truthfully spoken in for weeks now. 

Calum’s jaw slackened as you said the words, his hands falling out of the fists he’d held them in as he looked at you. All the strength seemed to leave him at once as he sank down onto the couch behind him. ‘I can’t believe you’re joking about this.’ he whispered, voice so choked with tears you almost couldn’t hear him. 

‘Don’t cry. Just don’t fucking cry.’ you told him. You knew if he let his tears fall then yours would quickly follow after. 

‘How are you being so fucking heartless about this?’ Calum asked, eyes bright and shining not with the love that was once there but unshed tears instead. ‘You got rid of our baby. Our baby. It was just as much mine as yours Y/N, it had half my DNA.’ Calum stopped as if to take in his words, like he still couldn’t believe what was going on around him. ‘We created a human Y/N, one that would have lived and breathed and laughed and called me dad and listened to my music and-’ Calum abruptly stopped talking as by now sobs were wracking his body. Tears started to stream down your own cheeks as well but they didn’t silence you like they silenced Calum. 

‘Do you really think you’d be saying all this if I’d decided to keep it? If I was standing in front of you with a 6 month sized bump? You’d fucking left me Calum, you’d left me for the music and don’t you dare tell me you wouldn’t have left this baby for your career as well.’ you said, words flying from your mouth like hail stones that pelted Calum. 

‘Don’t try to tell me what I would or wouldn’t have done.’ He yelled, standing up abruptly and facing you. 

‘I know you Calum Hood and I know you aren’t ready for a baby. I was doing what’s best for the both of us.’ you yelled back. 

‘I think what’s best for both of us is that you never see me again.’ Calum said, voice dropping now to one quiet and filled with ice. ‘Get out of my apartment.’ 

‘Years from now when you have someone else, someone you’re actually ready to settle down and create a family with, then you’ll thank me.’ you said as you stood by the door, both of you stony faced and streaked with tears. 

‘I’ll never forgive you for this.’ he said softly, before he shut the door in your face.
