Put Some Pants On!! || Millard Nullings

 Millard Nullings / Reader

A/N; This is based on book Millard, NOT movie Millard. I will probably never write about movie Millard, because he’s a young child and that’s nasty. also, reminder that requests are open, so if you like my style + want a certain oneshot, feel free to ask. I mostly write for MPHFPC!Book and MCU characters, but you can always ask if you have a request from another fandom and I’ll try my best :)

“This,” the old woman paused for effect while opening the door, “will be your room.”

You looked around the room, taking it all in. It was small, but nice. Directly across from the door was a vanity mirror sitting upon a small desk- a small stool siting underneath. There was a single bed in the centre of the room, with white linen sheets and a thick, white duvet covering it from foot to head. Beside the bed- two feet from the vanity- was a bedside table, with a small vase of purple flowers and a small silver alarm clock. In the far left corner of the room-toward the foot of the bed- there was a standing wardrobe, and above that in the top left corner of the room sat a comfy chair.

“I’m afraid it’s not much,” the Ymbryne said, smiling shyly at you, “but I hope you find it to your liking.”

“No- no, it’s lovely,” you said, smiling at the woman.

“Why don’t you drop your bag in here, and we can continue with the tour.”

You nodded, laying your lone suitcase on the foot of the bed.

She lead you across the hallway, to a room with double-wide French doors.

“This is our classroom,”she said, holding the door for me to enter, “and our library.”

“You will be expected to attend classes, along with everyone else, four days of the week.” She said, walking around the school desks slowly- making her way towards the bookshelves. “If you find yourself wanting to relax, you can always come in here to read- we have couches and comfy chairs, so you don’t have to leave the comfort of-“

“Oh my god!” You cut her off, somewhat rudely. “Put some pants on!”

“I do beg your pardon?”

“No- I- N-not you Miss…” you stammered, trying to save your ass. You pointed at the boy who had caught your attention. He was reaching for a book on the top shelf, hands held well above his head, fully nude. “I just mean- he- why is he naked??”

The boy stared at you, shocked, and you quickly covered your eyes- trying to maintain his modesty.

“You can see me?”

You peaked through your fingers, making sure they were still covering his… area… before replying with a soft. “Yes.”

“Millard,” Miss Peregrine said, clearly about to chastise the venerable boy. “Please do not walk around naked- especially when you know you will be meeting new people.”

Millard was so shocked, he couldn’t find it in himself to come up with a sassy retort.

Later that night, at dinner, you were officially introduced to the rest of wards.

“Children,” Miss Peregrine announced in a slightly shrill voice, “this is (Y/N) (Y/L/N). (Y/N) will be staying with us indefinitely. I trust you will all make them feel as welcome as possible.”

The children all went around and introduced themselves, and you tried your best to take notes of everyones names and peculiarities. Some wards that caught your attention were Victor and Bronwyn, two siblings with the same peculiarity of super strength, Hugh, a boy with bees in his stomach, and Abe, a boy who could see the monsters too.

“Millard,” Hugh said, nudging his friend in the arm, “aren’t you going to introduce yourself?”

“We’ve met.” You and Millard said at the same time.

“Sorry,” you apologize. “You can- uh- talk.”

“I was just saying we’ve met.”

“Oh… right.”

Awkward tension flooded the dining room, the only sound being the clinking of cutlery against dished.

“Well,” Hugh said after a minute. “This is awkward… (Y/N), why don’t you tell us your peculiarity?”

“Uh- honestly? I’m not really sure.” You said candidly. “I can see ghosts- or spirits?- and I can see auras… I also recently learned that I can see the monsters- oh and uh invisible people apparently.”

You finished, nodding your head in the direction of the invisible peculiar across the table from you.

“Oh…” Victor said in realization. “That’s why you’re wearing pants, Millard. I thought you just realized how nasty it is to eat naked.”

A laugh erupted across the room, and you could see Millard grinning.

“Yeah, ha ha,” Millard fake laughed, rolling his eyes. “Laugh all you want, but you will never know the freedom of not wearing clothes to dinner- it truly is freeing.”

“Neither will you, dipshit,” Victor teased, “not anymore, at least.”

The excitement of having a new face- or perhaps the excitement of mocking Millard- somehow made the children forget Ms Peregrines presence at the table.

“Victor!” Miss Peregrine scolded. “Watch your language around the children!”

“Sorry Miss.”

You found yourself in the library again later that night.

“What are you looking for?” A voice rung out behind you.

“Nothing in particular- just looking at the collection.” You ran your hand along the cracked spines lining the shelves infant of you- stopping at a velvet blue book. “You have Ardour.”

“Have you read that one before.”

“A couple times, yes.”

“Really? You don’t look like the type…”

“What is that supposed to mean?” You asked, becoming defensive. Does he think you look dumb…?

“Nothing… you just look like more of a nature book kind of person- not a romance novel kind of person.”

“Huh… thanks?” You said, unsure if that was positive or negative. “You knew it was a romance novel- have you read it?”

“Yeah… once or twice.”

“Did you like it?”

“It was okay… it was no Lés Misérables, but it was okay.”

“You’ve read Lés Misérables?”

“Of course.” He replied sitting on the couch a couple feet away from you- still watching as you browsed the collection of books. “Have you?”

“Of course.” You parroted back to him. “Only about a hundred times.”

“See, that makes more sense for you.” Millard said, scooting his legs off the couch when you walked over- book in hand- to sit next to him. “Which one did you pick?”

“Othello.” You replied- adding quickly once you saw his grimace in response, “I haven’t read it yet- I just want to know if it’s worth the hype.”

“It’s not… trust me.”

“Fine, then what do you recommend?”

“I’m glad you asked…”
