I blame Witcher games, I forgot how addictive games are (social life? exercising? what? no, just gimme a sword and a bunch of drowners!). Soft Love

The mattress felt like a marshmallow. He felt like sinking in and not being able to get up anymore, the softness swallowing him. Steve usually preferred to sleep on a firmer surface, but since Tony's pregnancy started to show, they had to switch to a softer mattress, one that would accommodate Tony's rounder shapes. Steve wriggled his butt more into the pre-existing groove, trying to deepen it, for Tony to sink right in whenever he would finish his evening routine in the bathroom before a night of sleep. A glass of iced water nearby, air conditioning on low, filling their bedroom with cool air, all it was a good start of a full night of sleep. And Tony absolutely needed a full night of sleep.

Steve smiled, hearing the bathroom door open. "Warmed up your spot," he said, rolling to his side of the bed and waiting.

"Thanks, honey."

Steve watched carefully as Tony slowly walked the short distance to the bed, putting his feet apart to better handle the additional weight. He was in a bathrobe, the material not covering his pregnant belly and leaving it in the open and in underwear that hung incredibly low on his hips to not obscure the baby bump. Face saying relief, Tony sat on the bed, and Steve lifted himself to help him take the bathrobe off and put it aside. Tony smiled at the gesture and reached his hand for the cold water, the ice cubes clinking in the glass with a crisp sound and took a few cautious sips. When his thirst was gone, Tony lowered himself into the bed, finding his groove and his eyes slid close. He breathed out softly and his facial features smoothened in relaxation. Finally in bed. 

"Good?" Steve asked, pulling the thin covers over Tony, covering the whole baby bump in the sheen material.

Tony nodded.

"Good," Steve smiled, laying next to his husband, his nose pressing into Tony's cheek. From up close, Steve could see some dark circles under his lover’s eyes, showing sleepless, uncomfortable nights, but his eyelashes and brows seemed thicker and darker and lips somehow got fuller. Not mentioning that his skin got softer and smoother and had some almost pearly glow to it. Tony would deny it all, blaming it purely on Steve's love for him and claiming that he was a mess, but Steve knew better. Tony looked just divine.

Tony smacked his lips and opened eyes when kisses were pressed along his jawline. Then down his neck, and there was small suction on that little spot near the base of his neck, the one when kissed always made him shudder in delight. 

"Steve," Tony warned, contradicting the tone of his voice by moving his head back and giving his husband more neck to play with and Steve took the invitation, covering the skin with more kisses. "If you are urging me to make out, it's not gonna happen."

"I am not," Steve replied, chuckling a bit and moving the kisses higher.

"Good," Tony closed his eyes, feeling soft lips pressing under his ear and following the jawline. "You already put one baby in me, I am not risking you putting another one-" his voice faltered and turned into a laugh when a kiss was placed directly under his chin. "Steheve!"

"Ticklish spot?" Steve asked with a smile, and didn't wait for an answer, just kept kissing the spot over and over again.

Immediately, Tony broke into giggles, arms coming up to push the soldier away. "Nahahaha! Stahap!" Tony gasped out, pressing his chin down to his chest, shielding the spot. It was a short attack, but still left him a bit breathless and with heated cheeks. Speaking of cheeks… When Tony covered one spot, another became available. And Steve did just that, leaning in closer and blinking against the skin on Tony's cheek, giving him a butterfly kiss. 

"Nooo," Tony giggled out, too comfortable to move away, and resorting to snapping his head out of Steve's reach. "Stop, okay? Just stop," Tony asked, a twitching smile not leaving his lips. He screamed and laughed, when Steve launched himself at him and Tony latched to soldier’s muscled arms, trying to keep him away. "I said stop! What is with you today? Do you have a thing for me being pregnant?"

There was some flash of emotions going through Steve's eyes. Too quick to decipher it, but not fast enough to remain unnoticed. 

"Oh," Tony said, the hold on Steve’s arms not so tight anymore. 

"Yeah," Steve confirmed, gently lowering himself down and mindful of the baby between them. He framed Tony's face with his hands and smiled, brushing thumbs along Tony's cheekbones, his touch giving a message of love and adoration. Not lust, not this sex driven feeling, just this soft love, blooming all around them. 

Tony smiled back, feeling a little insecure and overwhelmed. Clearly, Steve was not seeing what he was while looking at him. The stretch marks. The tired eyes. The way he walked like a duck. 

"And what after I give birth?" Tony asked in a sad whisper, saying something that was bothering him for a while, but he never found the courage to say out loud. His body would change. Would Steve's love for him change too? "Will you find me attractive after?"

Steve smiled wider, the love in his eyes not changing a bit. "Sure. I found you attractive enough to put a baby inside you, didn't I?" he asked playfully and Tony scoffed. A scoff didn't suit his face. Steve decided to fix it by fluttering his fingers over Tony's cheeks delicately.

"Steheve!" Tony giggled, his giggles getting lost when time after time Steve pressed kisses to his smiling lips and then some more kisses to the bump, lulling Tony and their baby into a calm sleep. And in the morning, Steve would love them both all over again.

The Guardian of the Bump

Tony gritted his teeth, trying to last. Everything was irritating him. The covers were too itchy, it was too hot and his back ached. Every minute or so he experienced a pulsating pain in his stomach that kept him awake. He didn’t want to complain. This was his to endure.

“Mhmp…” a small, muffled groan slipped past his lips, when his stomach was pierced again, stronger than before, which caught him off guard. Maybe it was safe and no one heard it…

Wishful thinking.

The mattress squeaked quietly when the person behind his back rolled closer to him, a hand gripping his shoulder gently.

“Babe? Are you awake?”

A quiet, warm whisper that spoke nothing else but love and patience. Tony hated that he couldn’t even guarantee Steve a full night of undisturbed rest. Maybe he can pretend to be asleep, and somehow it would all disperse in the darkness and they could go back to sleep till morning.

Just then, a sharp kick below his ribs made him gasp. The baby had to get excited feeling papa awake.

Tony hissed, when the bedroom was lit with gentle light, he didn’t expect.

“Hey,” Steve whispered again, guiding Tony to lay on his back, instead of the side position he had been previously in. Tony breathed heavily, his stomach rising with quick, shallow breaths. He blinked and saw Steve’s pale and worried face, as his husband was looking at him from above.

“Is everything alright?” Steve asked quietly, brushing some hair from Tony’s sweaty forehead.

“It’s fine,” Tony breathed out, welcoming the touch and closing his eyes when Steve’s cool palm cupped his cheek. “Just kicking.”

“Hmmm,” Steve hummed, brushing his thumb near his husband’s ear in an affectionate gesture. “Maybe you should swallow a clock so our baby would know what time it is,” he joked.

“Hilarious,” Tony griped, his own hands stroking the growing bump on his stomach. It was the fifth month of pregnancy and it was the glorious time of crazy cravings and morning sickness that didn’t want to end and as a cherry on top, the baby liked to use his organs as punching bags at various times, with no regard if it was day or night. It was truly a magical experience.

Steve moved his hand lower and stroked over the material covering Tony’s belly, massaging the bump gently. It wasn’t big yet, but big enough to be visible while Tony was laying down and Steve couldn’t wait for it to grow and get bigger, impatiently awaiting his firstborn. Tony’s pregnancy was a shock to all, but Steve never felt happier in his life. The soft touch continued, and Tony let out a blissful sigh, letting Steve’s fingers do their magic and moved hands out of the way, hooking one arm under his head for a more comfortable position.

“Heey, little gremlin,” Steve whispered, massaging the top of the bump. “You can’t sleep?” he continued to move his hands in soothing circles all over the top of the stomach when another kick was aimed. “I see. Try to sleep, okay? I want you to be all healthy when you come out, and you need a lot of sleep for that.”

Although Steve tried, it didn’t really affect the baby, and Tony gasped at two kicks, one after the other.

“Stubborn, huh?” Steve smiled slightly, feeling proud that their baby already had their character. Strong willed and determined just like its dads. Maybe one day, it would cause problems, but it wasn’t the moment to think about it. For now, Steve decided to use the method that was proved efficient many times before. He put one finger on the side of the bump and gently scratched the skin.

“YP!” Tony’s eyes snapped open, and he closed them right away at the ticklish sensation, his whole face scrunching. “STHHIHIHIVE!”

“What?” Steve asked, laughing himself and loving how very sensitive Tony became in the last months. Even more sensitive. And from experience, he knew that a good laugh was doing miracles to his husband’s aching body. “You know it calms our baby,” he justified himself, gently moving his finger around the baby bump.

“HAHAHA!” Tony flailed his arms, and caught Steve’s hand, holding it away, as Steve didn’t even try to make it difficult for him. After all, it was about Tony and the baby, and his husband had the last word.

When Steve looked at Tony, he saw a smiling face and happily sparkling eyes. He smiled back, knowing that his husband felt better already. Steve sunk back in bed and nuzzled Tony’s cheek briefly before draping himself over the other man, his arm swung over Tony’s chest and leg hooked with one of brunet’s, in a position that was very characteristic for them, but usually in reversed roles.

It became peaceful again, and they would fall to sleep if it wasn’t for another kick.

“Khhh,” Tony hissed. The kick was much gentler, and more of a reminder that the baby was inside and was not done playing. “I think you made them overexcited,” Tony tried to scold his husband but laughed quietly when Steve was already looking at him with big, sorry eyes. Just then, the bedroom door creaked open and Steve moved his head up to see.

“Oh, hey, Fig,” he smiled and a fluffy tail sprung over the edge of the bed, indicating the cat getting closer before he jumped on the bed, joining his humans.

Tony blew a raspberry with his mouth. “Sure, it is 3 am and neither kids or cats can’t sleep,” he said, watching his fluffy beast approaching them.

“Came to join us?” Steve asked, brushing cat’s back, when Figaro heavily stepped over him to get to the middle and cuddle himself between Tony and Steve. Just this time, Figaro stopped on Steve’s stomach and eyed the baby bump with interest, as if seeing it for the very first time.

Tony hissed again, when baby kicked in sequence as if sensing a pet and getting excited. “Hey, easy, kiddo,” he said, stroking his stomach.

“Crazy cat lady like mommy, already?” Steve teased with a friendly smile, laughing when Tony stuck his tongue out at him.

Figaro stayed completely still, eyes focused on the bump. It lasted for a long while, up to the point when Steve grunted as kitty paws were pinning into him and the weight started to bother him. Tony noticed that and looked at Steve with an irritated expression.

“Oh poor you, carrying additional thirty pounds on your stomach, how can you even manage,” he snarked and Steve grinned as an answer. After another moment of hesitation, Figaro lowered his fuzzy face and sniffled at the baby bump. Then he brushed his nose over the bump, also sensing the growing person inside.

“Wow,” Steve quietly awed. To be honest, Figaro seemed to completely ignore the bump on Tony’s stomach, until this very moment. With soft paws and stepping cautiously, Figaro curled around the bump and put his face on top of it, as if protecting the baby inside, purring sweetly.

As cute it was, Steve felt a note of panic. Figaro was big and heavy and Tony was bothered enough as it was. “Hey, Fig, don’t—”

“Wait.”

Steve looked at his husband and Tony kept his face in a thoughtful frown. After a while, he was sure.

“The baby stopped.”

“What?” Steve’s mouth fell a little open, and he looked back at the baby bump and Figaro curled around it, like a guardian. A fuzzy, purring guardian. “Are you sure?”

“Yeah,” Tony said with a relieved smile. “I think Figaro calmed them down.”

“That’s— that’s great, babe,” Steve smiled back, the initial surprise ending. “Wish we knew that sooner,” he laughed weakly, thinking about all restless nights they had so far.

Tony didn’t say anything anymore, feeling warmth spreading over his body. It was a really good feeling and he was hoping that when the baby would be born, they would bond with their cat as up to this point, Figaro ignored his pregnancy and seemed even offended by it, because of having less space in Tony’s lap. This occurrence really soothed his heart. Still smiling, he pulled Steve back to himself and placed one hand over his baby and wrapped fingers into Figaro’s fur, listening to the calming purring. He didn’t even know when his eyes slid close to sleep. All Steve could do was to quietly clap in his hands and turn the lights off as the whole family drifted to sleep, for one of the calmest nights they ever had since the joyful news that they won’t be a family of three anymore, but a family of four.

Steve and Tony were just ending their Easter lunch. Nothing special, they were just happy they had each other after all that happened to them. "I'm going to call mom." Tony said as he open Skype. "Are you going to tell her?" Steve asked as he placed kiss on his cheek. "Of course. I can't hide anything from her." he said and click on 'call' option. "Tony!" she said happily. "Hey mamma. Happy Easter!" "Happy Easter darling. How are you? What are you doing?" "We're fine. You should come and visit us. You know I don't like you being alone on Easter." "I'll be fine. Don't you worry. Hey Steve." she said as she saw him removing plates from table to sink behind Tony. "Hey mom, happy Easter." Steve comes behind Tony hugging him. "Happy Easter Steve. Make Tony help you with house chores. Don't be lazy Tony..." "Mom..." Tony pouted. "It's okay. I don't let him do anything. He needs to relax." Steve says and share short kiss with Tony. Maria was puzzled. "We are expecting baby, mom." Tony said touching his belly. "Wha- How?" "You are going to be grandma. We'll tell you everything the next time. Now we are in hurry." "Okay take care of yourselves. I love you." "Love you too, bye." Tony said and end call.
