   “Sabotage!” Joshua declares after he says it before he blushes furiously. That was a little loud and given that he is standing in the middle of the costume store wearing a pirate outfit, it might have been a bit extreme and strangely on the nose. He lowers the soft sword he has from where he was poking at the air above his head as he laughs it off and people go back to thinking he’s a semi-normal shopper.   “Sorry, had to say it,” he chuckles to Taejoon now. “I wouldn’t say you’re ruining it. You’re just not being careful with yourself a little bit, maybe just a lot.” He scrunches his nose and then does poke Taejoon in jest with the very end of his sword. “Just the tip.”    For once, Joshua seems less jittery with a friend he’s made. At least enough to make such a joke.

it’s only after a few seconds of silence that minho realizes how harsh he might’ve sounded; a straight face with no hint of a smile nor frown coupled with his borderline uninterested tone of voice has never once made for a great impression. his thoughts don’t line up with his expression most of the time, and he finds himself making up for that quite often.

he forces his tone to soften enough to where it matches the tell-tale gleam of amusement (mixed with slight concern, honestly, because there are always a few things that concern him when it comes to taejoon’s mannerisms) in his eyes.

“—did you forget to eat earlier, or are you actually being philosophical? i can order food either way.”

the demigod is telling the truth and nothing but right then; the ability to seamlessly lie never has appealed to him in these types of situations. he lifts his hips off of the couch just enough to reach into his back pocket and fish out his phone, tapping away at the screen to navigate to a list of what’s open and what’s not. he turns the screen to face taejoon after that and holds it out for the other demigod to either stare at or take.

“here. you can pick, tae.”

“  i’m not even a hot mess.  i’m more like a lukewarm mess.  ”

Cabra had yet to really grasp the idiosyncrecies of this new era, particularly popular spoken phrases and their meanings. Calling ones sell a mess or a hot mess would have been completely lost on him even a couple months ago but thanks to Muzen, the bee god who was far more connected to these things than he was, he now got it. “I know what that means!” he announced proudly with a snap of his fingers, Cabra had long ago acknowledged he wasn't the brightest of people so often became joyful over dumb things he managed to do well. 

“I would beg to differ that you are indeed... a... hot... mess?” he said slowly already questioning his fraising of the statement as he grimaced a little looking to the younger for guidance on if he just complimented him or got it completely wrong. “Wait no, you are not a mess at all!” Cabra sighed his big shoulders sagging a little looking like an oversized kicked puppy thinking he had said something bad.

HR Review - Taejoon

Gesturing once more for the young demigod to take the seat before him, Wukong’s smile does not falter, nervous nurses were one of his specialities and he is a well liked visitor to the nurses station these days, even when he is stealing their treats. This nurse however was new to him, but he can see from the HR file open on his lap, that young Taejoon was relatively new. “Nurse Yoon” he hums in greeting, “I am Director Son, thank you for making the time to come and see me” again, he was being polite, they really have no option! 

“Well, lets start with how you think you’ve been doing hm? Then we can go on from there” letting the file on his lap close with an easy bat of his hand, Wukong sits back a little and nods encouragingly for the nurse to sell himself a little. Always does well to boost the confidence a little... or maybe he just enjoys the sheer look of panic in the young man’s eyes.

“It thinks you’re in the middle of the ocean?” She repeated, eyes widening in surprise before a giggle fell from her lips. Something sure was wrong, in that case. “Maybe Mount Phoenix doesn’t show up on GPS? Can you even see the island on there?” She would not have been surprised if it did not show up on GPS, although that was pretty inconvenient. Or maybe the island had a special navigation app? She had no clue.

“You know what? A slushie sounds pretty good right about now. Why don’t we find it together?” She suggested, her smile sweet. It had been a long time since she had last had a slushie-- probably not since going to a fair with her friends in middle school or something. “Let’s see, if I were a 7-Eleven, where would I be?” She mused, looking around as if it might just appear out of thin air. “Probably close to the middle of the residential district, right? So people don’t have to go too far from home to get snacks?”

He looks over at the young demigod with a soft smile, a hint of amusement in the way the corners of his mouth twist upwards, but the look he gives the youth is soft and fond. In no way is he judging him, rather he is just taking in the look of a mind that could come up with something like that.

“You definitely don’t,” he agrees, turning his gaze back up to face the moon they are talking about. His hands are tucked into his pockets, his stance relaxed. When he tilts his head to find some of the familiar stars in the night sky, his knitted jumper slides off one shoulder a little, but he is impervious to the cold, it seems.

“However tonight I do not feel the need to yell any sad noises,” he continues after a moment, returning an almost warm smile to the young man. “But if you do, I by no means wish to hold you back from it. If you want I can conjure you up a choir of harmony to help better relay your message.”

“ i’ve mastered the skill of feeling guilty for asking for anything. ”

“well,” she says, regarding the young man with a bit of surprise and a bit of amusement all mixed up into one. “i fully support you building your own skillset and perfecting them as you please, but i would say it’s rather strange to go into a store where you have to ask for what you need and then feel guilty for ... asking for what you need.”

she raises her eyebrows lightly, as if letting the expression alone indicate exactly how strange of a concept this is to her - and she’s sure when she puts it this way it will be to him as well.

“so perhaps you can skip the feeling guilty part since it is my job that i chose to do; to give people what they ask for. then we can move on with this transaction with us both feeling light and unburdened and it’ll be all the better an experience for it.”

The sudden random question made one of Set’s brow arch as he turned to look at the demigod who just uttered such nonsense. Was he actually asking him that or was he just talking out loud to himself? Mount Phoenix surely housed quite the odd ones lately, it seemed.

“They reflect the room they are in?” he replied. Why was he engaging in such a pointless conversation? He had no idea, but he couldn’t stop himself, for some reasons. “I mean, it’s not like they suddenly grow feet and walk around looking for people to use them. It would be quite unsettling if that was the case, don’t you think?”.
