A Very Merry Christmas to everyone!

I hope it snows enough that none of you have to go to church and see that impudent vicar that had the gall to propose the night before!

man the last few years have been rough for Mr. Elton huh

I saw a post crossing my dash (that I regret not saving) with Josh O'Connor as Mr Elton in Emma. (2020) vs his priest character from Wake Up Dead Man with the caption 'damn life sure has taken a toll on Mr Elton'

And it made me think about an Emma sequel but make it murder mystery

The sleepy village of Highbury becoming something like a Father Brown-esque parish, typical idyllic English countryside with a weirdly high amount of crime suddenly happening

Someone dies and someone else gets accused. And Mr Elton may not be the sharpest tool in the shed. But these are his parishioners and the accused person just doesn't have the murderer vibe

Enter Mrs George Knightley, née Emma Woodhouse, daughter and wife of the two most prominent landowners of the neighbourhood and NOTORIOUS Minder of Other People's Businesses, who suddenly feels like she's found her new calling - solving mysteries

(Maybe one of the accused people is a friend of Harriet's from Mrs Goddard's school days. Maybe it's Robert Martin himself. And you can BET that Emma is NOT letting this pass without sticking her nose into it)

Mr Elton and Mrs Knightley suddenly find themselves working for the same goal. Shenanigans (and a considerable amount of headaches for Mr Knightley, who is, technically, most likely the local magistrate) ensue.
