I love it when Peter annoys JJJ as Spiderman, just pops in annoys Jonah then leaves. 💀
Any hcs on Enguard?
ArtistIssues
Why yes, there are headcanons!
Enguard is a favorite of mine. He is unswervingly loyal. That’s one good trait Jumba couldn’t keep out of his programming, even from the start! In fact, the only evil thing about Enguard was technically that he was only designed to guard dictators and tyrants, and the mischievous thing about him was that he wouldn’t leave them alone. He’s very protective. But in his episode, Enguard learns from Nani that taking time off, and trusting others to take care of themselves, are important, too. Lilo teaches Enguard the phrase “off-duty,” and it sort of becomes his mantra whenever he’s tempted to follow his protectee around.
Enguard’s One True Place is protecting the Mayor of Kokaua Town as a one-man bodyguard entourage, even though that’s not really necessary in a little Hawaiian town. But by the time of Stitch & Ani, the Mayor is actually Mr. Jameson, Keoni Jameson’s father. This is ironic, because back when he was first activated, it was Mr. Jameson that Enguard chose to form a shield around and never leave alone. So they have a history which turns into a unique bond by the time Mayor Jameson is serving his second term as Mayor. Mr. Jameson knows how to put on a smile and please people and run the town, and he even has a great grasp of Aloha Hospitality. But heavy-weighs-the-crown. Mr. Jameson often talks to Enguard about whatever’s stressing him out or makes jokes about political people he doesn’t like when there’s nobody else around to hear except the Experiment. That‘s because he can really trust Enguard.
The image you see above shows that Enguard is loyal not just to his boss, but to his Ohana. In fact, Mayor Jameson is out on vacation when 621 breaks into the Mayor’s office at night, hoping to lure Enguard to his team. While he wheedles and tries to convince Enguard to betray the family, he lets it slide that some of his evil plans involve kidnapping Jumba. Enguard is confused at first, being slow on the uptake, but when he realizes exactly what’s happening and what this new 621 guy expects him to do, it’s like a switch is flipped in his little dinosaur-like brain. Enguard shifts his years-long focus from protecting the Mayoral office to protecting Jumba. After getting a sound thrashing from 621, who’s anger mutated him into a monster big enough to battle effectively, Enguard manages to escape into the stormy night. He usually wouldn’t flee a fight, but Enguard knew Jumba needed protecting, and he’s sort of singleminded. Besides, he was losing.
So Enguard shows up and tells the family that 621 is coming. They don’t get to learn much more because he passes out like a little drama king, but that is how Stitch, Ani, and the whole Aloha team finally learn that 621 is around and behind the disappearances. That bumps 621’s plans forward, in turn, and he really does start several schemes to kidnap Jumba, but that’s a story for another post.
Enguard recuperates with the Household Cousins and help from another Experiment which shall be revealed later, and while he’s there, he reconnects with Nani, who’s always had a softer spot for him much like Grindz and Gunner. When Enguard’s on his feet again, he’s very helpful in stopping 621’s repeated attempts to nab their creator. But…when Mayor Jameson comes back, he misses his little bodyguard. He frequently objects to Enguard staying with the Pelekais and nags them about when Enguard will be returning to his work. Enguard stoically doesn’t pay attention to his friend the Mayor during this time, singlemindedly focused on taking care of Jumba. It’s not until someone tries to point out to him how sad Mayor Jameson is without him that Enguard softens up and starts splitting his time between guarding Jumba and guarding the Mayor to try and make up for it.
Which turns out to not be a great thing in the long run, because 621 doesn’t give up.
Engaurd’s favorite snacks are the little candies that the Mayor’s secretary keeps on her desk. He considers the Town Hall his territory and is known for glaring at people who spill coffee on the floor during meetings. When he’s sitting in his basket next to Mayor Jameson‘s desk and there’s nothing else to do, Enguard fiddles with paper clips. Maybe it’s because they link together the same way his arm-bars do when he makes his shields.
Were those enough headcanons for you? You can find the complete story of that stormy night in the picture on my deviantArt! Thanks for the question!
