“Oh, I know!” Maria exclaimed, “A boyfriend! You need one of those!”.

Alex writes a letter to Santa to have a boyfriend for Christmas. He gets more than he bargains for whenever a spaceship crashes in the backyard.

comment: I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! what a fantastic premise for a christmas fic. alyssa absolutely kills it with the cute factor, the flirting, the alienness of michael, and the teasing of liz + maria. it’s a total hoot but with underlying sweetness the whole way through!

millie’s long list of malex fics | I’m Not Afraid of Anything by lostin_space

Michael couldn’t help but smile as Alex moaned into his mouth.

He wasn’t used to this just yet, it still felt surreal. One day Alex was asking him to tutor him in biology, the next he was being kissed senseless against the wall in the shed behind his house. He’d never even kissed a human before Alex. Now he couldn’t get enough.

“What time did you tell your mom you’d be home?” Alex asked softly, his nose bumping Michael’s before he kissed his cheek and moved to his jaw.

Humans and Antarians aren't really meant to be together. It's frowned upon. Alex doesn't really give a shit. OR 6 times Alex is strong and 1 time Michael has to be strong for him

comment: ooh i love these au fics where antarians are living on earth, out in the open, or earth has some kind of relationship with antar. it means that alex and michael can meet when they’re young without the alien secret between them, which can make for some really interesting dynamics/plot changes. this fic is a cute little 6+1 set with the boys in highschool, but it pretty quickly delves into some of the more realistic issues that might accompany alien refugees on earth. rnm is political, and i really admire that so many of our rnm fics don’t shy away from these topics. this one’s a neat little take on some very similar issues, sandwiched by some nice malex moments, and some angsty malex moments (i mean c’mon, it’s malex).

The campus was empty. The apartment complex was empty. Everyone had gone home to their parents, even the noisy upstairs neighbors. Not a creature was stirring–all that shit. It was silent.

“Nuh-uh, open your mouth.”

Michael was too helpless to disobey, his eyelashes brushing Alex’s shirt that was currently being used as a blindfold while he opened his mouth. Alex spoonful of something sweet and alcoholic into his mouth, his thumb already scooping up the remnants from the corner of his lips

Michael and Alex spend Christmas together.

comment: if you’ve been reading alyssa’s It Only Takes A Taste series, you’ll already know about this fabulous moment in the boys’ history. they’re alone on campus and enjoying christmas instead of alex being miserable with his family, or michael being alone. perfect!

Alex hesitantly grabbed the package and saw that while, yes, the handwriting was feminine and had apparently been sent from Maria DeLuca, it was most certainly not her handwriting. Instead, it was one he knew extremely well considering how often he’d copied his notes.

Michael felt it.

He didn’t know exactly what it was he was feeling, but he knew it was important and his brain wasn’t giving him any choice but to follow it. He knew it probably wasn’t a smart idea to separate from Alex and Kyle, but there was a hum inside him that lured him away.  It led him to a locked door that opened to a flight of stars that wasn’t shown on any of the maps that they’d found.

Michael finds an alien baby and is immediately attached to her. Maybe a little too much?

comment: i was on the edge of my seat the whole time this fic was updating. who is this baby? what the hell is the stone? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? it was a fantastic little mystery, wrapped up in michael and alex figuring their shit out. i don’t want to say too much and spoil it, in case people haven’t read it, but the “reveal” at the end was very satisfying. a really interesting and creative take on michael’s antarian background.
