The room was QUIET now. She’d seen everyone disconnect from the call or at least start to, and well, she was grateful for the quiet. She could feel that bubble of emotion starting, threatening to burst at any moment, only amplifying when she heard Carol’s voice. Her gaze that was previously aimed down at the table moved to look up at the hologram of Carol, taking in a deep breath. Was she okay ?? Far from it, really. She’d been teetering on the edge of insanity for weeks now.
Every call was meant to help her, meant to aid her racing thoughts and worries. But every call just seemed to add new worries, add new things to her mind to worry about. Her mind was EVERYWHERE and nowhere all at the same time and while she was normally the stoic person that kept everything together -- kept everyone together -- she could feel herself ripping apart at the seams.
“I’m fine.” It was a lie, one that she’d told a lot recently. Steve always asked her if she was fine, and she’d always lie. Why WORRY him when he had enough stuff to deal with on a daily basis ?? It just didn’t seem fair to her. “Just a lot on my mind.” A pause. “Just... really. It’s okay, Carol. I mean it, I know you’re busy -- you have a lot to get to. Don’t worry about me. I’m the one that’s worried about all of you out there.”
