The most boring thing about having Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is having to say, “thank you” hundreds of times a day.
I can’t get by without the help and support of other people and I am so grateful to them. I wouldn’t be able to work or easily collect my children from school without it but sometimes saying the word, “thank you” gets on my nerves and I long to be able to say something else!
I mix it up a bit for my own amusement and say, “thanks” or “cheers” when people hold the door open for me or help get my mobility scooter out of the car. I sometimes even say, “nice one” or, “awesome” instead but I wonder what people would think if I said something random like, “sausages” instead just to make it more interesting!
“Sorry” or “excuse me” are other ones I’m getting tired of saying. Maybe I should swap that for, “bananas” instead just to keep me from going crazy with boredom!
I’m sure I’d get lots of strange looks so for now I’ll have to stick to saying, “thank you” and “sorry” and pretend to say other things in my head! I’d hate to sound ungrateful too because I’m not.
Anyway, rant over, sausages for listening!
