Mt. Kepler
I’ve heard a rumour that Kepler has some of the best french onion soup around, is this rumour correct? I’m a bit of a foodie and would love to make a trip out to Kepler to try the soup and see the gorgeous town!
The rumors are true. If you stop in town be sure to go to the Mt. Kepler Ski Lodge and try their internationally renowned French onion soup!
Kepler brochure day 2: The Map!
14:01
So yesterday night I found Kepler WV overlook Trailhead anf it is just what it sounds like! Prefect! So, for Keplers woods, I will be useing the images from google map. I ALSO found where the office Kepler map is based. I googled the East Fork Greenbrier River Satellite as it can be seen in the bottom of tha map and found the area pretty quickly. I have been asking my mum for help with placements for the things that aren't on the map because she listens to TAZ too ( and is actually ahead of me ).
15:22
I found out thag you can make custom maps on Google itself and I was so excited about it! But sadly, you can't remove landmarks on the Google one so I found a better one BUT its super complicated so all I did so far is remove all the landmarks.
16:15 - 16:35
I found a better site!! Its called 'scribble maps' and the best different is adding roads and removing landmarks is the first thing it fuckin asks and I love it! It also shows you where roads used to be and so I can make the map a tad but more realistic ( not that it ain't )
18:19
I have done the bones! But because the main road isn't on the og map, I will have to edit it out on my phone which is currently on 23% so I'll take a dinner brake
20:55
I am now taking that brake to eat and watch an episode of SPN
22:04
Back from my brake with pie! Okay so I am almost done tha main map now to remove some street names and crop it up
22:16
Done! Now to edit the tourist map for the brochure.
22:30
The maps are complete!
23:16
Edit: I forgot to add a few bits to the normal map
I'm supposed to be traveling through West Virginia this June, and my path is going to take me near Kepler. Is there anything to do in the summertime, or is it all just skiing and trees?
There’s plenty to do during Kepler’s Summers! The you can explore the beautiful Monongahela forest, check out the views from Mt. Kepler, have some wet fun at one of our many water parks(Kepler is the Water Park capitol of the US!), or get spooky at the Cryptonomica. Kepler is a great place to be year round!
I think this is a wonderful way to reach out to potential visitors and promote local attractions! To the person running this, what's your favorite thing in/about Kepler?
There’s so much to do! I can’t speak for everyone in the department, but I love to hit the slopes in Mt. Kepler in the winter, splash around at all the water parks in the summer, and tune into the Cryptonomica’s Saturday Night Dead year round!
Kepler brochure day 6!
21:15
Okay so, as yall know, I've finished listing to Amnesty so now I am actually going to do a new map and replace H2Whoa with The Hornets Nest: Action Park. Sorry if you wanted H2Whoa I guess but i will probably be making 2 versions
22:33
Finished the Amnesty Lodge information part. Have to add pictures last on my phone when things are done
Gonna have to call it a day tho. So sleepy
@ food recs anon, the lodge has life-changing french onion soup
Can’t believe we forgot to mention this! Thank you for your help anon!
I'm visiting Kepler right now and I was wondering, do you have any particular food recommendations? My family and I are going skiing and it can be pretty tiring...
The Mt. Kepler Ski lodge has some amazing food if you don’t want to get too far from slopes, and if you find yourself downtown our local Domino’s serves quite the slice!
