Tattoo: Did they keep the tattoo with Seven’s initials? Why/why not? What was that decision/execution process like? (Bonus: What do they think of Seven keeping their tattoo?)

They did keep the tattoo! They did actually consider getting rid of it though, around the one year mark of all the break up bullshit. She has just had enough and the constant reminder was starting to just eat at them. But when they actually got in the car they realized they needed to decide whether to remove it or cover it. And I don’t know the thought of that choice kinda just broke them a little? They just sat in the car and cried. The idea of doing either one and pretending it didn’t happen just really didn’t sit right with them. It wasn’t just like some romantic relationship that didn’t work out this was their best friend of over a decade.

So, even if there was no hope romantically I think Octavia would still have hope at least for their friendship, and for Octavia the tattoo above all represents their friendship and what they were/are to each other. That doesn’t go away if she gets rid of the tattoo so really aside from some temporary petty relief it would ultimately lead to more hurt and regret to do anything but keep it. And they do still love Seven, so that’s another big factor in why Octavia keeps it. I think they would have to absolutely hate Seven to actually get it removed, and it would take a lot to get to that point.

About Seven keeping it? Absolute confusion. Octavia believes Seven hates her lol. Which to them doesn’t mean they don’t love them, because Octavia knows well you can hate and love someone at the same time. They can’t decide if them keeping it is a sign they don’t care enough to get it removed or if they simply haven’t had the time. When they try to rationalize not having the time in three years though…it picks at the part of them that’s still hopeful for something or anything, really. Ultimately? It makes her a little happy.

Fame: Do you think your character will enjoy fame? Do they think they will? What elements do you think they might struggle with? Do you think they’ll be happy at the end of this road?

Oof. DKSKSJ In some ways? Yes. The stadiums, the awards, the parties etc. Octavia would thrive as an artist. They’re a very magnetic person they know how to connect to people and interact with people in a way that makes them feel seen. Which is obviously very good for someone in her aspiring profession. But at the same time Octavia is a very neurotic person they have had underlying issues outside of all the drama in their life since they were a child. Things they just literally haven’t even began to process. And with the prodding into their personal life, the interviewers that push a little too far, the temptation of various unhealthy methods of self medication is not great.

Edit: idk why it cut off the part where i said overall with support and therapy i think they’d be happy SJSJS tumblr is willing the worst on octavia apparently

As for what Octavia personally would think I think they’ve been chasing this thing for so long that they’re not gonna know what to do with it after they have it. I don’t think Octavia really quite grasps the entirety of it all and tbh I don’t think she can until she has it. I like to think at the end of it all—with lots of support from people they can trust, and some therapy lol—they’d be happy.

It’s raining when you and Jesper finally get off shift, and the two of you take shelter from the downpour in an old gas station on the edge of the outer ring, where your job took you. It’s long abandoned, a thick coating of dust covering the bit readers and empty shelves.

You shake yourself as you step inside, grateful that the awning over the gas pumps protects your bikes, but more grateful that the inside of the store protects the two of you from the biting chill of the rain.

It’s quiet, and you hop on up on the checkout counter, sitting crosslegged and looking over to Jesper. He’s mournfully wringing water out of his bangs, but he looks over to you when he feels your gaze. He smiles, rain dripping down his face, and you’re struck by how handsome he is, even here in the dim, dusty light.

He comes over to you, leaning against the counter next to you, and the two of you watch the rain in silence for a long time, before he murmurs something. You don’t hear it, at first, and when you look over at him curiously, he flushes.

“Dance with me?”

You flush too now, hearing him repeat himself, but you nod, even as you bite your lip in hesitation. He holds a hand out to you, and you take it almost shyly. He leads you away from the counter, pulling you close and resting a hand on your waist, lacing your fingers together. He hums quietly, low and deep and a little raspy, and the two of you sway together in the dark, the eerie colors of a sunset rainstorm bleeding in through the windows.

You close your eyes, resting you forehead on his shoulder, and breathe deep, savoring the moment. The rain on the roof, Jesper’s low humming, his hand in yours. It’s simple, but it’s what you needed.
