METADEDE WEEK DAY 1- SWORN PARTNERS

Ta-da! Welcome to Metadede week (which is my first time doing it) with a special spin, being Nextgen themed. The choice was to basically be able to make one big teaser for what's to come with just these two characters. Here are the two brand new redesigns for Meta knight and Dedede, with massive changes to Meta since he's...y'know...alive now.

Like with GSA week I may be late with some of these pieces, so just be on the lookout if that happens.

Rambling below about Nextgen's reboot:

So one of the main reasons I decided to start over and reboot Nextgen even though I'll be graduating next year which doesn't leave me with a ton of time left is that the death of Meta Knight just didn't work for me anymore. There were a lot of reasons I grew to not like the writing which led to Pike's whole thing and the dislike of it made it hard to continue doing content for it. I currently have a rough idea on how the reboot will go as well as created concepts for a good chunk of the redesigns (the most brainpower has gone into Meta knight for reasons I will go into later).

In the meantime, Metadede!!!!! It's still canon and now has a much happier ending than in the original story. Meta lives through his little event (though pays for it health-wise) and is eventually forced to retire with pressure from the Meta-knights. He now resides with Dedede in a home in Dreamland, where they try and help in taking care of the countries population (mainly being children).

DESIGNER NOTES:

Dedede finally looses his crown! It was a bit weird he was still wearing it even as an ex-king. He has a normal little hat in exchange.

Dedede also looses his insignias on his cloak and other items he has, usually covered up or replaced with a regular star insignia.

Dedede gets a puffier beard and bigger eyebrows! Just for funsies.

Dedede's bodily design now looks slightly more like a fairy penguin due to personal headcanons.

Meta knight's bodily design has entirely changed due to being retconned into being a different species (different facial features, size, blush, etc). These include eye shape, lack of permanent blush marks, lighter body as age goes on, permanent scars, lack of real wings, smaller size, mammalian biology, etc.

Meta knight's horns are fake and are moved up onto his mask, mask has changed in design.

Meta knight's cape has major damage, and is a very heavily loved object the knight chooses to continue to wear into older age.

Meta knight ditches his pauldrons in exchange for small gold shoulder pieces that clip his cape into place.

Meta knight now wears arthritis gloves/socks due to his chronic pain issues he ended up getting around middle-age.

This year we'll be celebrating five years from Kirby Fighters 2's release, and our third MetaDede week! Our dynamic will be a little different this time, but we continue with the same bases.
