Got myself some of the new MTG TMNT boxes and finally have a chance to show off the merch I got from @kaysdenofchaos My little Donnie has been my emotional support turtle at work and helped me open all my packs. Absolutely love him!
Here are some of the pulls I got from the packs I opened!
There is more tmnt mtg boxes coming out later this month that I just HAVE to get, but so far I am loving all the details in this set! This is a good month for tmnt!
Can I take a quick moment and nerd out/ gush about the TMNT MTG set?
So my only experience with TMNT is through Rise so when the set came out and I went to the pre release I had a lot of questions and opinions I would like to discuss!
THE ART IN THESE CARDS ARE AMAZING BTW!

I first want to talk about the lands because when I first saw the set release I hated the pizza lands and thought I would hate the set cause of it. But then I saw these lands and holy shit are they beautiful. They really feel like a love letter to NYC. And I love how the art of the lair feels so lived in the details are fantastic!

This set is actually pretty OP and has so much color combinations! I love how they have each of the turtles paired and how it perfectly matches each of their energies.
I love how each pair has a completely different dynamic and the abilities are amazing and I'm totally considering making a Mikey and Leo commander deck! At the very least they are going in my current white green deck if I can get my hands on that card.
And don't even get me started on the art work! I love any piece with dynamic fighting movements!

But if we want to talk about the art we can't skip over these!
Like OMG they are so cute and I nearly screamed when I put this image together and realized they connect. I actually drew all 4 of those cards so they are safely in my collection. I also am dying at the chibi style of dark Leo!

There are a lot of cards that I just loved either because of the art style, what it means, or simply the quotes for the characters.
I saved a lot of April cards because she is soooo mischievous I love her quotes.
"I can figure this out! Don't worry about me... ow!"
"you guys seriously tried to do this with jump kicks?"
"This is great! I must really be onto something hot if they are trying to kill me!"
Also WTF why is Casey hot! Fun fact about magic is the creator didn't want any "sexualized" woman design to keep it appealing to women so sometimes it feels like the artist go "fine we'll sexualize the men!" And holy shit do they love their shirtless men! Also there is plenty of sexy women art just never in a bad way like there is a very sexy elf that came out in lyrwn and it just cause she a thick queen on a throne and all they guys call her mommy when she shows up.
There is only two cards I could find referencing the Rise universe and it's the one with Big Mama in her Rise style and Cassandra.

There is also a lot of characters I had no clue about or TBH thought they were a fans OC not a cannon character.
Like I fully thought Venus was a OC based on the fan art I've seen.
Some of these characters I need to know more about like Mona Lisa! Who is she! Why is she so cute! Why is she in so many cards!
Also the poor pizza delivery person 🤣 they are in the background of so many cards just trying to do their job but the mutants keep getting in their way.
Also who is Lisa! Someone get your child!
I had a rough idea who Jennika but she still just give OC for Leo vibes. Especially since her back story is she turned into a turtle because Leonardo transferred his blood to her? Idk feels lazy but what do I know 🤷♀️ I also write bad OCs so guess I can't judge.
I do not want to think about that cow however like... huh?

A lot of the cards also gross me out... I don't know why I like TMNT sometimes because I get easily disgusted by food, rats, and sewers.

Ok final bit let's talk about my MVP cards from my pre release! I decided to go with a white, black, green color combo (I wanted to do red, green but didn't get any good red cards 🙄)
I am huge into white, black cards because I love graveyard mechanics and life gain mechanics so when I got these cards I was set! All these cards are going into my current black, white deck.
Also I was so thrilled to get Armageddon in my pre release because the moment I played that card no matter what the game state was my opponent immediately conceded 😁. Even tho a few times I was upset by it cause it didn't feel earned... 🤷♀️

Any ways that's my little rant and showcase. I can go on all day about each individual cards and maybe start looking at other versions of TMNT other than Rise because of these cards.
