Would you rather lose to Infect or someone taking extra turns?
Huh
I barely noticed in my mail that tumblr announced that I have liked 1000 posts and considers it an achievement.
So my 1000th like was of mtg-realm's post of their theoretical 6th turn (I could be wrong on the 6th turn theory) win with 3 cards: Master of Cruelties on turn 5, apply Aqueous Form on turn 6, attack, then kill opponent with Shock.
Well played, sir or madam.
Theros Prerelease
Over the past two days, my local game store hosted several prerelease events for the new Theros set, and I decided to play in a couple of them. These events were Sealed format, meaning that you opened your product and constructed your deck out of the cards you found inside. This set's events begin with the choice of one of five "paths" to walk, coinciding with the five colors in Magic and determining the promotional card you get. This is one of only a handful of prereleases where the players were able to play with the promo they received.
The first event was at midnight Friday, and I chose the Path of Ambition, aligning myself to Black. My pool was fairly strong and I ended up building an aggressive Black/Red build. The highlight of the night for me was playing my promo Abhorrent Overlord with Purphoros, God of the Forge out on the field. My devotion to Black was at eight, netting me eight Harpy tokens and dealing my opponent a total of 18 damage from Purphoros (two from the demon and another two from each of the harpies). That left quite an impression!
I chose the Path of Battle in the next event, which aligned me to Red and netted me a promo Ember Swallower. This time, my pool was strongest in Red and Green and I built a deck with many Heroic creatures and a number of spells to trigger their abilities. This event didn't go as well for me as the first one but I still managed to place well enough to take home some extra packs at the end.
Theros is brimming with exciting new cards for Commander. I'd been poring over the set as the new cards were being revealed, and now that the set has gone into public consumption I'm sure it'll have a big effect on the format. Over the next few days, you'll see my Theros set analysis go up, where I'll be taking a look at the cards and giving my personal opinion on what I think will make an impact. In the meantime, feel free to check out this video made by my buddy at MTG-Realm -- he was present at the same midnight prerelease as I was, and he goes over the packs he opened and some of the exciting pulls made by people at the event.

Nerdy Update
OMG Magic: The Gathering is just so great. Current decks:
Bant Hexproof
G/W Aggro/Midrange
Both are standard
Just needed to say it...
Anyway, I tried out Warmachines last night at Crimson Castle here in Tuscaloosa and must I say, ladies and gents, that once I finish paying for my trip to universal's HHN, I will be buying a faction but I'm deciding between Cryx and Protectorate.
