“The Toh-Ka Aliens”
Having fled to the stars many centuries ago and lying in wait; planning, experimenting, the alien beings known as the Toh-Ka have finally engineered a batch of champions to reclaim their homeland and re-establish their roles as the native caretakers of the Severed Veils.
Yes, And: most people are familiar with this. You accept what the player is doing and add to it. "I go to open the door." "You open the door and a large friendly dog jumps out, pinning you to the ground."
No, But: a lot of people know this one, too. You aren't letting the player Do The Thing, BUT something else happens! "I try to stab the shop keep." "The shop keep dodges your attack, but trips and falls to the floor, dropping the key he was palming."
Yes, But: much less used but fun! The player's choice works, technically, but there's Unexpected Consequences! "I go to smash the box." "Your mace falls squarely on the chest but it deforms, absorbing the blow and revealing a massive row of teeth!"
No, And: use with caution, for moments when the Fuck Around has occurred, and now it's Find Out's initiative. "I'm going to try and seduce the guard." "Unbeknownst to you, the guards are all eunuchs under a vow of celebacy and he takes significant affront at your presumption."
I don't use these for everything, but they're great tools for when an action needs a bit of back-and-forth.
Lord of the Crashes - Lord of the Flies inspired Board game
Hello! I’m working on a 2-player asymmetrical board game inspired by Lord of the Flies, and it is a vicious, zero-sum tug-of-war wrapped up in an earthy, childish art style.
If you love games that let you completely ruin your best friend’s plans, this is for you!
The Premise: You’re stranded on an island. The rules of civilization are gone. You play as either Ralph or Jack, locked in a desperate struggle for leadership over the remaining schoolboys.
"You know the rules!" Just like in the novel, whoever holds the conch has the right to speak. The Conch is absolute power. You play "Debate Cards" to shift the Conch token across the board. By manipulating it, you get to dictate exactly which plan the boys will execute next.
🔥 Team Ralph: You’re desperately trying to hold onto civilization. Your goal is to gather Fire tokens to build a massive signal fire and get rescued.
🐗 Team Jack: You’re embracing the wild. Your goal is absolute dominance! poaching, bribing, and stealing every single boy to join your savage tribe at Castle Rock.
Are you fighting for civilization, or are you going to watch the island burn?
Download and play now on Tabletop simulator workshop!
(Reblogs and Reviews are very appreciated!! ...are you playing as Ralph or Jack?)
My next game, Games With/Out Art is now out (okay it's actually a trilogy of games but bear with me it's been a Week).
This game is loosely inspired by some conversations on TTRPG Bluesky about the relationship TTRPGS have with visual art. As a result, I thought I'd try and make a game completely without visual art.
This eventually evolved into three short games, in which you can:
Try to remember to take your medication as a zombie
Sacrifice someone in the Wicker Man (while singing a song)
listen when you're playing a table top game, a role playing game, a game where you and your friends are playing characters and bouncing off of each other, just do shit. say shit. the first fucking thing.
the GM for the Lancer game i'm playing had a bad guy call our characters "union dogs" and i just fucking barked at him like a rabid dog.
in character my character barked like a rabid dog on coms to the bad guy.
