Swerve x Reader

• Stretching out and toes brushing his legs as he lays facing you, you’re aware of the heat of his frame. Walking two fingers over his chassis, you avoid looking at his face so you won’t laugh or grin. Trying to be serious. “You’d probably miss them if you didn’t know to look. Just one more stretch of wooded road out in the middle of nowhere. The only really remarkable thing, if you can even call it that, is the scraps of fabric tied to the branches in only one spot. Some new and others so faded you can’t really tell what color they were,” you say and he huffs out a laugh, one corner of his mouth twitching into a crooked smile. ‘I thought you were going to scare me,’ he teases and you shift closer, body brushing his as he falls silent. But then he’s always been impatient.

• “Ragged, little ribbons,” you continue, your fingers resuming their slow walk over his plating and your expression more serious than he’s used to. “No warnings, just those little scraps of fabric left behind. So you tie your own to a branch with a wish, a want, in mind. Then you walk. As soon as you step into those woods, you feel goosebumps lift along your arms. Feel your heart beat a little faster. Know this isn’t a place you’re welcome, but you can’t stop now. You have to keep going.” Reaching up to cup your face in his hand, he feathers a servo against your cheek. There’s something raw in your expression that he doesn’t really understand. That leaves him uncomfortable. Like you’re not just telling him a story, but you’re remembering something.

• He’s not grinning anymore and satisfaction spreads through you as you fight a smile. Wanting to see if you can scare him after he’d insisted spooky stories didn’t bother him when he’d asked about the book you were reading. So you’re having fun trying to make him squirm. “Your limbs will begin to feel leaden, like they’re no longer your own. But then you’ll notice the bones. Tiny, brittle things scattered on the ground, but far too many to be random. More the deeper you walk into the woods. A trail. Occasionally, there are patterns. Whorls, geometric designs that drive home that these aren’t random shapes. The worst part, though? The whole skeletons. Bones picked clean and looking like the animals laid down because they wanted to make those patterns in death. Like it was a compulsion they couldn’t ignore. And every step drags at you until you want to lay down, too. Add yourself to the patterns. That thought will scare you and leave you strangely giddy at the same time. You’ll want it.”

• And he’s done. Reaching out to pull you into his frame, he hears you huff out a laugh as he rests his chin on top of your head, plating ruffling uncomfortably. “Who’d believe something like that? Not me,” he says, servos flexing on you as he feels the warmth of you. How real and solid you are. “That’s not even scary.” Trying to ignore that you’re laughing at him, he clears his vents. “Was that in your book?” Though it’s not like he cares. Only a sparkling would. ‘We could go for a ride and I’ll show you,’ you whisper, breath warm against the mesh of his neck to make him shudder. It’s real? It can’t be real. Except there was that look on your face when you’d been talking. Like you were somewhere else entirely.

• “You want to hear the rest? What happens if you can keep going? Or we could try it together. I’ve always heard you’re less likely to lose yourself if you’re not alone,” you tease and he makes a low noise. ‘You’re fragging with me. I know you are.’ Pushing against his chassis so you can lean back and see his face, you arch your brows. “Then what’s the harm in going with me? It’s just a hike in the woods, right?” And he stares at you, lips moving. Before dragging you back into his frame as you laugh, barely able to breathe when he squeezes you. ‘Yeah, you’re never leaving my sight again. Wandering around in some sketchy woods at night.’

Reverse Soft AU Pt 2

Swerve x Reader

• You’re just staring at him, brows raised as he fidgets with the rubber sleeve in his servos. Trying to figure out why humans would need these because you’re apparently not going to explain. “Same time tomorrow?” He asks weakly and you snort, pushing away from the counter. ‘Go home, Swerve.’ It has to mean something that you remember his name. Some part of you must like him. A tiny bit. Awkwardly picking up the little box, he feels his smile go strained when he accidentally dumps out all the little, sealed pucks on the counter.

• You almost feel bad for him as you watch him trying to rake the pile of sealed condoms back in the box and half end up in the floor. He’s like a puppy, you decide. Kind of cute, too but you’re not about to admit that because then you’d never get rid of him. Though, why he doesn’t just go online and find someone is beyond you. There are more than enough ‘bumper humpers’ as they’re called actively hunting for Cybertronian spouses. “Why don’t you give up?” You ask, making him fumble several condoms into the floor.

• Bending to pick up the tiny, flat things, he clears his vents when his big servos just scoot one across the floor. “It has to be you,” he mutters, embarrassed. You’d probably laugh if he told you that he’d first seen you sitting out back of the store on the step, a book in your hands. The way you’d been smiling to yourself as you’d read had made him want to walk over. To share in whatever secret story you were lost in. Wanted someone to smile at him like that so bad. To be happy to see him. Hears you huff out a breath, but you don’t ask. Probably wanting him to just leave. What would you say if he just said that he wants to be the reason you smile like that? It sounds silly in his head, but it’s the truth. That has to count for something.

• He just looks lost as his head lifts and he smiles, hands full of condoms. It has to be you. Who says something like that? Worse, he looks like he means it and that’s just crazy. Watching him heading for the door, you stare at his back. “Why me?” You ask almost against your will and he flashes you that hopeful grin as he turns that makes you feel far too exposed. Makes you defensive. ‘It was always going to be you,’ he says with a small shrug. ‘Love at first sight is funny that way.’ How can he say things like that? Think he loves you when he doesn’t even know you?

• Smiling even as you shake your head, he tries not to let it bother him. Because this? As painful as it is, it’s almost a real conversation. You’re talking to him. “Go home, Swerve,” you repeat louder and he pushes open the door, throwing away the weird, little spike sleeves. He’s wearing you down. Bit by bit. Can be patient. Coax and flirt until you smile for him. Until you’re happy to see him. Knows you’re worth the wait. Humming to himself, he starts walking.
