Sailor Moon says:
Pursuing education, especially higher education, can be really really difficult.
It can take a financial, emotional, and physical drain. It's okay if you decide you need to take a break or choose to drop out, take a break, or not go at all.
It doesn't make you any less of a person.
It's definitely not for everyone. Even though I've been doing well in graduate school, the way other students and my professors treated me has caused me to make a difficult decision: to drop out.
I cried a lot about it but those dear to me reminded me it doesn't make me less intelligent or less of a good person if I need to take a break or give up on a Master's altogether. I figured other people might need the same type of encouragement.
Something wonderful is waiting for you, no matter what. Don't forget that.

Sailor Moon Says:
Turning 18 can be scary! It seems like there's a lot of new responsibilities no one taught you how to handle or cope with.
But, just because you're legally going to be an adult doesn't mean you have to act like one, or that anyone can force you to change who you are.
In fact, that's exactly what it DOES mean. You can be who you are and define your own future in a lot more ways than you could before, but you're still the same you.
I've been an adult for almost 6 years and I only just started feeling like one. I'm going on 24 and I only just learned how to cook and figured out what I want to do. Some people get that when they're 5, some people get it when they're 40. It doesn't matter. But never lose the part of you that is still a kid, because it's always fun to be one. Even moreso when you can do things like run up around your house shouting and no one can tell you no.
Statistically, they say people often become happier as they get older because they realize they're more in control of their own lives and, when you look at people older than you, remember they were all once 18 too.
We've all been there. We've all been scared, and we all get through it. Sometimes it's a little bumpier than others.
And there will always be other adults who will be more than happy to show you the way.
Here's some awesome things/feelings no one has probably told you about that happen when you realize you're a grown up:
When you make money it's yours. Some of it will have to go to things like bills, yes, but whatever is left over is yours. You can buy a carton of ice cream and eat it all in one sitting and no one can yell at you because it was your ice cream that you bought.
You know that one outfit your parents hate that you love? We all have that outfit. It's probably hiding in the back of your closet like mine was. You can wear it every day now if you want.
Your time is your own now.
If you leave the house you don't really have to tell anyone where you're going.
You'll be able to think things like that you could buy a plane ticket to wherever you want to go if you had the money and no one could say anything about it. Well, they might say something, but unless you want to you don't have to listen.
It'll be scary, yes, and there will be days when you don't want to get out of bed and something will make you. Or you won't get out of bed. Sometimes I don't get out of bed and that's okay.
But one day you'll be doing something like driving in a car or sitting in the passenger seat with your friends and talking to them, and you'll reach your hand out the window and feel it get pulled up towards the sky and you'll realize you've been doing this and feeling that feeling of weightlessness all your life, but now it's your whole self that feels that. And you'll feel joy bubble up in your stomach and some of it might fade over time but some of it will also stay there and you'll feel like that a lot in your life.
Remember you're royalty. You always have been and you always will be, regardless of the class you were born into. And the older you get, the more you're able to treat yourself like the royalty you've always been, be it with a nice bath, a new shirt, whatever you want.
You're a grown-up, and in a lot of ways, that's crazy awesome.
I'm not the best at giving advice, but I tried! In any case, I know you're going to be fine, and we're all rooting for you!
