being tasked to work together, for the most part, required of rafael as their mediator. someone to keep amelda for throwing remarks about varon’s lack of focus & to keep the brunet from snapping back in a violent fit because of that. alas, the guy was busy somewhere else, with god-knows-what, leaving varon with having to bite his tongue for the most part while following orders. his interactions with amelda were always finicky—barely talking because he never knew what to say to the guy, but also because it was easy to get distracted if he indulged too much in conversation.
luckily for them, the break-in & stealing of information required for the two of them to be quiet for the most part until their escape. the redhead had made a big deal about how much of a joke the security system of the building was until doors started to close & lock rooms. whatever he did, it was definitely not as simple as he made it sound, but at least it appeared to be a result of whatever hacking amelda had done rather than someone from the company actually noticing them. that... did little to reassure the brunet. his eyes went back & forth from where they came from & what would’ve been their exit—both locked behind thick metal doors that wouldn’t budge, no matter how hard he hit them with something. it had to be amelda to sort it out before morning came & they were found.
"—looks like their tech ain’t as ancient as ya thought.” the brunet remarked, looking visibly annoyed despite trying to come off as playful. the furrow of his eyebrows betrayed the smile on his face, as he placed their items down on the nearest surface & sat there, watching the other. “c’mon. open the doors so we can get outta here. i don’t like this place.”
