So, I still have a lot to write about his ED, so for now all you need to know is that: It gets to a point he hits rock bottom with it. This has been hinted in several older posts, but things to run out of control for him. He can’t hide it anymore what is truly happening to him, and it was through Mokuba’s intervention that he was put into treatment.

This is supposed to take place just a few years before GX started. During this time period, he is removed from his CEO duties and the company is being run by his closest employees-- people who had been appointed to cover for him during this period.

For awhile, it was uncertain how long Seto’s absence would last. Some even feared, he would be too stubborn to even adhere to the treatments, It should be notedthat all of this remains in extreme secrecy, only those closest to him are aware of what truly took place. In order to try and cover that up, all that the public received as an answer to Kaiba’s absence from the public eye was something on the lines of ‘after years of running KC nonstop, Seto has taken a brief undefined hiatus from his position.’.

During this break Seto was left in the shadows about his company, he was isolated of sorts so he could heal. I’m still not entirely sure where this took place, it could have been within his mansion or in a clinic (or it alternated between both). The matter of the fact is that, by the end of this process he comes out as a changed man. Not entirely, but it seems like he has let go of the majority of his destructive mannerisms and degrading interests, and replaced them with what is arguably a whole lot healthier to him.

It is important to remind of his context: He is in the early 2000s in a society that mostly seems to ignore, and not really address mental health issues (or when they are brought up, they are not treated with the severity they deserve or are mocked). It is a wonder he made this far into his life, like that.

in other words, he couldn’t move freely & go about his life as if nothing had happened. not unless he wanted to be nagged over being so reckless.  though, he could always hide it from her... one couldn’t simply tell someone varon to rest because just thinking about it was enough to make him feel trapped—suffocated. like a lion in a cage, he’d pace around searching for a way even if it meant getting in the process of healing. it was why the few larger scars had left a faint decolouration on the skin. it was like an itch he couldn’t control & he kept picking at it over & over until a mark was left. if only she knew that a bad shoulder was nothing for someone like him.

  “—what gives? i feel like i  can move it just fine.”

The similarities were too much, at this point. Oh the irony. It was almost as if she were tending to her brother, whenever he gets into his own fights. Obviously, she wouldn’t inform him about it. Otherwise, she is certain it would only cause the man to get up and leave for good.

“I’ve told you, at least stay for a few minutes. Just enough so the medicine’s effect starts kicking in, Varon.” Ishizu responded calmly, which was the exact opposite of his voice tone.

“I only fear that, if you try to leave looking like that. You’ll end up attracting unwanted attention to yourself...” Her voice trailed off for a moment, as she got closer to him once more in order to have another look at her work. “Also, please be mindful of my couch. I don’t want it to be stained.”

          “oh, so we’re showing off now, huh?” even if it served a purpose, varon standing on one leg seemed to have attracted some attention from those near them, but it wasn’t anything beyond a few glances and chuckles. they all knew what he was trying to do, it seemed; perhaps they had been there, too. “you know what i mean — you have a place to stay here, just like i do. and i kinda wanna head out.” but not because she was worried about how much he had drank; sure, it was a good amount, but considering he wasn’t hobbling about and one wrong move away from vomiting, she wasn’t too concerned. quite frankly, varon was holding up much better than most of her friends. thankfully. 

          “i’m kind of over it.” it being the venue they had been spent the past few hours at. letting a cheek rest against her palm while she leaned over the table, she gave him a pout in hopes of making her argument more convincing. “can we go somewhere else? walk around maybe? it’s stuffy in here, anyway.” and she began to fan herself for effect, the hairstyle she had done for their outing already tied up in a ponytail she didn’t intended on having that night.
