What are the headcanons do you have for munkustrap’s kittenhood?

One of my headcanons is that Munk absolutely worshiped the ground his big brother Macavity walked on. He was a skittish kitten, very shy and prone to not speaking up about things that mattered to him.

An example of this: He had a huge crush on Demeter as a kitten, even wrote a song to confess his feelings. But when he saw Macavity, who was aware of Munk's feelings, pursue her he kept silent so as not to upset anyone.

Munk wanted to be a Protector just like Macavity (who was receiving the training as part of of him preparing to be the future leader of the tribe) The training ended up being the perfect thing to bring Munk out of his shell. Munk didn't realize how manipulative Mac was growing up, only realizing when he looked back on his childhood just how bad it was.

Macavity's betrayal not only leaved Munk as the only surviving Protector despite him not being fully trained and having to step into the role of Tribe Prince at a later stage then usual. It also left him with his world torn asunder, his brother and hero now his greatest enemy.

What do you think Munkustrap would be like as a kitten? Do you think he sees any of who he used to be in any of the kittens?

I have a few different head canon's about how he was as a teenager, but if we're talking kitten??

Maybe this is me projecting a bit, but I think he would have classic middle child syndrome. (I hc him as the middle of the Doot Bros, Macavity being oldest and Tugger being youngest.)

Growing up he had a lot to compete with between Macavity always getting in trouble (negative attention is still attention), and Tugger always being praised.

While Munkustrap would say he sees himself mostly in Mufasa, anyone who knew him as a kitten would say he was far more like Mackenzie and Alazne than he would ever like to admit. He was an odd mix of the two, quieter but still attention seeking like Alazne, yet still rowdy like Mackenzie.

He was just trying to find how he fit into the tribe, and everything fell into place when he put his energy into being a caretaker of the kittens and a storyteller for the tribe, among other things. Having the energy and understanding of rowdy kitten behaviour and the natural performance skills he inherited, he grew to be perfect for these two roles!
