Inktober day 4: “dodge”
Queen Janice dodging death ofc
An excessive analyis of this photo of The Electric Mayhem
Dr. Teeth: Sits on the highest branch, but closest to the trunk. This showcases his position as leader of the group & head of the family, as well as some slight degree of vulnerability (be it to physical unsteadiness or a fear of heights).
Animal: Positioned a little ways back, but between all of the original band members, showing he is at the center of their attentions, which is appropriate given as they view him as their collective son.
Floyd: Sits a fair ways out on his branch (with a place to support his damaged leg, as well as serve as an assist when climbing up or down). His position could indicate a desire to be seen as a loner rebel, but his actions betray a softer nature. He sits closest to Animal since he would have the best chance of handling any problems that he may cause, actively keeps an eye on spaced-out Zoot to make sure he doesn't fall, and sits on the same level and at such an angle that he's able to look over at Janice (who he is in a romantic relationship with)
Janice: Sits on the same level of tree as her partner Floyd, but on a branch closer to others and to birds and flowers, highlighting her love of nature. She is also sitting in a position where she is most easily able to enage with the other band members during the performance, showing her loving connections to them all.
Zoot: Sits on the lowest branch of the tree at an odd angle to remain in physical contact with the tree. This could indicate he is nervous about falling off the branch (possibly due to visual impairment). While his branch is a bit closer to the ground, he is still on the same level of the tree as Lips (something we saw above with the canonical couple of the group)
Lips: Sits furthest from most of the other band members, save for Janice, to whom he may be related. He is the newest band member and may not yet feel fully assimilated into the group, but subtly indicates he does wish to be, as indicated by sitting on the same side of the tree as the leader of the band, directly next to the lead singer of this performance, and across from the musician with whom he has the most in common with :)
Day 22 of Muppet Advent- Electric Mayhem!
This is officially my favorite picture of Janice and Miss Piggy
It’s a parody of a BBC show that ran from the 90s and early 2000s called Absolutely Fabulous.
Follow my Apple Music and check out my electric mayhem based playlists :) I’m always adding to them
Muppet Headcanons!
Electric Mayhem edition! Part 1!
So my personal headcanon is that the band members have some pretty rough backstories and are now living their best lives together as found family.
Dr. Teeth is a hybrid of a Whatnot Muppet & a Spider Muppet. Muppet hybridization, while not illegal, is still somewhat stigmatized and his parents opted not to keep him. He has two extra sets of (unfortunately uncontrollable) arms that he keeps restrained & hidden, and his gold tooth encapsulates a venomous pincer. He was placed into foster care at about a month old and was shuffled from home to home (with varying degrees of quality), until he ran away to New Orleans as a teenager and was taken on as an apprentice by an elderly Whatnot woman who ran a supposed fortune telling shop. She’s a profit-obsessed grifter with a flair for the dramatic, but she’s also secretly quite warmhearted and encouraged him to pursue his dreams of stardom, giving him her hard-earned funds (and a couple of fake ID)s, to seek his destiny.
Right after he was born, Floyd's mother left him with her former lover then went mysteriously missing a few weeks later. Floyd searched for answers all throughout his boyhood, and though he never found his mother he did find out the identity of his biological father (a Whatnot man who was hardened by a long career in the military). Floyd left his adoptive family, lied about his age, and joined the military as an act of rebellion and a vain attempt to somehow connect with his biological father. He was admittedly skilled at wilderness survival, but still decidedly unaccustomed to combat zones. He came back eventually, promoted, paranoid, and with a replacement leg (Muppet biology is interesting), that causes a distinct limp. He reconciled with his adoptive parents, but ultimately he left his father’s rustic eco-conscious desert dwelling (a shack with a pile of junk behind it and a hellforged garden out front) to start a new life for himself in the city.
Janice is a transgender woman who was disowned by her parents after coming out. She still seeks to have contact with them, but they reject her each time. Many of her spiritual practices began from her trying to make contact with them through extrasensory means or to heal from their actions. Her biological Whatnot father died when she was very young and her step-father is a human man. She’s pretty sure she can communicate with the ghost of her bio-dad through scrabble tiles though, so there’s that. Dr Teeth and Janice met when a bar offered a “sing for your supper” night where performers could play or sing a few songs in exchange for a small meal. His charisma and genuine empathy won her over and as they continued to bump into one another at gigs over a period of months they formed a friendship and ultimately decided to start traveling together.
Stay tuned for part 2!
