We adore this poster! An original French 'grande' movie poster for George Pollock's 1963 murder mystery "Murder At The Gallop" (released in France as "Meurtre Au Galop"), based on the 1953 Agatha Christie novel 'After The Funeral'. The second of four movies to star Margaret Rutherford as the spinster detective Miss Marple, the film differs from Christie's source novel, in which Hercule Poirot is the sleuth. The 'Gallop' of the title refers to a hotel where Miss Marple herself is in perilous danger! The stunning artwork on this poster is by legendary French artist Roger Soubie. As well as a wide range of commercial illustrations, he was responsible for around 2000 movie posters, including the French posters for Lolita, Ben Hur and Forbidden Planet. This amazing poster was originally issued folded, but has since been professionally linen-backed. This is a conservation process that (as well as de-acidifying and protecting the poster) renders the original fold-lines almost unnoticeable. #artofthemovies #murderatthegallop #agathachristie #missmarple #rogersoubie #frenchchic #1960s #homemovietheatre #homecinema #filmposter #filmposters #vintagemovieposters #movieposter #vintageposters #hollywood #cinema #collectibles #vintage #poster #posters #film #art #films #interiordesign #homedecor https://www.instagram.com/p/CAvE3PjHHHW/?igshid=1kvgr1j1ruoo0
