In his game of chess with Lieutenant Blanay, Professor Bell cracks the armor and reveals the very essence of his relationship with Doyle. The beautiful intellectual machine is also an emotional one that is piqued by Doyle's supposed fascination with Blanay. The latter also becomes the worm in the apple, the one through whom the duo's flawless complicity suddenly falters. Bell is literally destabilized by Doyle's unexpected attitude and he bluntly lets him know. The story of The White Knight Stratagem then turns into a father-son relationships through Charles-Doyle-Blaney-Bell-Innes. A major episode of the series.
