I had been planning to do a mushroom witch for a while before this, but I saw @rachel.maksy mushroom sleeve dress video back in June and then it came back up in my feed a few weeks ago, so here we are today. I probably won't do too many #drawlloween or #inktober posts since my pieces take too long usually but I'm going to be bad and post this on #otherworldlyartscollective #oac31drawlloween mushroom day. Not really in the spirit of it but oh well. I cleaned and updated my altar. I understand some witches do not like showing their altars as they can be a very personal space. While mine is a personal space used for my personal meditation, I do not view this as a space to be kept secret or away from others. That is not to say either way is correct, if you don't want to show anyone anything, you don't have to. 💜

Now that that's said, what is my altar? My altar is a space that I have organized to be aesthetically pleasing to me (because it is exclusively my space) where I can go to center myself, meditate, look deeper into myself and my world, and practice learning Tarot. It is filled with things I love: rocks and crystals, fossils and candles, Palo Santo and octopuses. 💜💜

It's well past their season, but I'm still revelling in the discovery of fairy inkcap on my maple tree. In my dream world, there would be beneficial mushrooms throughout the garden, decomposing old wood and feeding the plants to make them hale and hearty. Bonus points if they're edible. The tree is still alive, which is my only point of concern as they decompose dead wood, but can't hurt the live wood. Inktober 29th . . “Marasmius rotula This eastern species, sometimes called the "pinwheel mushroom,” is often overlooked because it is so tiny; the caps max out at two centimeters in diameter, and are usually half that size or smaller. Marasmius is a genusof mushroom-forming fungi in the family Marasmiaceae. It contains about 500 species of agarics, of which a few, such as Marasmius oreades, are edible. However, most members of this genus are small, unimpressive brown mushrooms.“ So a lot of fungi in this family is poisonous.
