I can’t apologize enough for being a day late on the first post!! When drama calls I guess. Lol.
The first song of the week is “Daisy” by Brand New.
For starters, this song is seemingly understated. It has subtle music, powerful words, and elicits some interesting dancing. Lol.
Musically, the sound is not overpowering. One part of the song gets louder, but never loud to the level that requires adjusting the volume. The composition of each part is stylistically simple, but, when joined together, they sound surprisingly strong.
Lyrically, “Daisy” is clever and emotional. If you have ever felt any sort of deep sadness, you can relate to this song. With phrases such as, “I’m a mountain that has been moved,” and “I’m a sky that nothing wants to fly in,” “Daisy” really hits every over-emotional person’s core. Being one of those types of people, I absolutely connect with this song.
My utterly favorite part of this song has to be the fact that when I listen to it, I become so tempted to dance around like a flower-child. Closing my eyes when listening seems to bring me to a different place. I always feel like I am in some indie film during a scene where a girl dances around on drugs. LOL! I’m not sure if that is a bad thing.
Anyway! Sorry if this is an awkward review, but I promise it will get better with each one!
Let us know what you think about our review, the song, or even suggest what genre/song/band/album/etc we should review next!!!
