Oh man, you're pretty punny! Y'got me cracking up ;) //wink wonk my friendo
Haha oh gosh, thank you! Some say I have a punderful personality. ;) Others actually have to deal with me and treat me liked I’ve dropped an f bomb... I like to think it’s an eggquired taste.
Mod Tamiya here! After reviewing Cosmic's Pokemon character, we have now received a submission from his sister! musicdrawnwithbombs!
(Gosh, I haven’t done an actual character bio in.. fudge, I dont even know. Drawing and keeping everything in a mental log is more my thing yknow? So I’m probably veeery rusty… This is Cosmic’s little sis by the by! c: Here’s my constantly reused OC in the pokemon ‘verse)
I know the feeling.. I truly do. Compared to Nico, I rarely type out or draw complete bios either. Heck, he did most of the work for my SnK OC's! (As in drawing and typing it out, I was the one who decided what traits they would have and what not, Nico simply put it into amazing words.)
Thank you for the submission though, I will try my best!
Name: Telma Gurren
Nicknames: Telmsy or Telm
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Demisexual/Demiromantic
Birthday: January 21st (Since you brought up that its more than likely they have the same months.)
Yes, thank you for your attention.
Height/Weight: 5’ 2, ~140
What system of measuring is this? Inch and pounds..? I mean, that would make most sense. Either way, next time I suggest you add the metric numbers next to it; this is helpful for everyone who doesn't live in the USA.
Appearance/Body Build: Dark brown hair that reaches down to mid-neck length, sideswept bangs. Hazel eyes, tons of freckles and relatively fair colored skin. Not entirely thin and has a bit of tone to her as well from the labor of travel both on land and in water, has broad shoulders that are usually leaned forward. Usually seen in a baggy blue T-shirt and black or dark colored shorts and tennis shoes except in colder climates where she puts on a light colored hoodie and long dark pants. On her arms and the palm-side of her hands are a few scars that are still healing, she doesn’t mind them and sometimes forget that they’re there. Always wears a purple one-peice swimsuit when swimming.
Freckle appreciation!!
And a realistic body too; broad shoulders are pretty useful if you travel and swim a lot. Also nice job considering different outfits for different areas! It's always bothered me when you enter a snow area in a game and your character has the exact same clothes they wear in the warmer climates... So nice job on that.
Personality: Telma is a rather down to earth girl who doesn’t often speak her mind. She often zones out if no ones talking to her, yet she will listen attentively to what people say when conversation arises. Although she will ramble on about her passions if one catches her in the right mood, she will usually apologize for talking so much by the end if she doesn’t catch herself first. Telma is more of a one-on-one or small group person, and doesn’t like big audience attention, she especially avoids beauty contests like the plague (Does Pokemon even have an equivalent to a plague?) She enjoys the occasional simple dress, sure, but even so isn’t afraid to get dirty if it means getting a task at hand done. She isnt the judging type and doesn’t entirely care what people or Pokemon look like on the outside.
Sounds pretty introvert-ish to me. I can relate. Usually, big groups are overwhelming and kind of "uncontrollable" to me. Some people confuse introverts for being shy, because they act more shut-in in big groups, but in reality, they usually just feel a bit overwhelmed and don't always know who to talk to, but with a small group, it's easier to focus. I suppose this might be the case for Telma as well?
Hometown/Visit Rate: Lavender town, Kanto. Residence is off to the side and is a small house with not a lot to it besides the basic necessities. Telma visits home whenever she can make it for holidays or family traditions, ontop of whenever shes had her fill of a different region. The radio tower change is a sour topic to her.
Lavender Town as hometown, quite a daring move, I must say! I'm curious to how Red's actions have influenced her and her family.
Likes: Swimming, sweet foods, time to think, a good puzzle, rain and storms in general, ghost stories (real or fake, she enjoys both), traveling in general and visiting her family and other pokemon whenever she gets a chance. Appreciates running into friends and people she’s met on her travels and listening to what they’ve been up to since their last encounter. Loves going to Hoenn.
I like her! I wouldn't mind being friends with her at all!
Is she acquainted with Team Aqua, by the way? Since Hoenn has a lot of water and Telma loves swimming!
Dislikes: People who are overly loud and obnoxious, or otherwise over the top for attention, people who poach, hunt, or otherwise capture Pokemon against their wills purely for profit, bragging, or ‘for fun’ purposes. Absolutely hates the thought of public speaking.
Heheh, sounds like the dislikings of Kenshi. Not that I mind, I mean, who doesn't hate obnoxious poachers?
By the way, does she, aside from being a possible introvert, have social anxiety? Because of the public speaking thing, just a thought.
Talents: Telma is adept in climbing, as well as swimming and diving, having many memories of climbing on Rock Tunnel or swimming in the route south of Lavender (Even though she has had a few unfortunate encounters and mishaps doing these things, which have left scars on her hands and arms mostly from jagged rocks or sharp litter.) Comparatively she is like a Swimmer girl but with more variety to her team.
So the swimming thing is important enough to consider Swimmer Girl her Trainer Class? Nice! I like that! Like I mentioned before, Trainer Classes should really be used more. Even the characters in the Pokemon Anime have Trainer Classes most of the time, they just never literally mention it.
Also, I love the details you added about her hands. When swimming in the wild, rocks and litter are definitely something to worry about. Realistic details are the best, hell yeah.
Fears:
-Flying, she much rather would have her feet planted on the ground or immersed in water than being moved through the air at high speeds. This often leads to additional length travel and takes up more of her time.
Cause and effect! No use of flying while traveling? Longer travels. Good job on that addition!
-The thought of losing her Pokemon also terrifies her, the fear often combats with logic that her Pokemon can look after each other just like she does. This is often what occurs when she zones out, which leads to her feeling conflicted about battling seemingly untrustworthy strangers ‘for fun’, especially if they bear a reoccurring suspicious uniform. Her Pokemon often snap her out of this if they notice her zoning out for too long.
Many people would consider this a contradiction, but fears in combat with logic... this is actually very accurate. You see, "irrational" fears, anxiety and phobias are usually pure emotion, and when it's really bad, not even logic will stop you from feeling this fear.
For example, there are many people afraid of spiders, even where I live. Even though in my country there is no such thing as dangerous spiders, they don't bite and neither are they poisonous. Does this stop people from fearing them? Nope.
-Also, bug pokemon. She hates and fears bug pokemon with the fuel of a thousand Moltres’s (Moltresi?) and will freeze up if one so much as brushes against her. She will not sleep in forested areas, no matter what
The plural or Moltres is Moltres! Like Pokemon is the plural of Pokemon, the names of the Pokemon don't change with number either. One Pikachu, two Pikachu, three Pikachu.
People would say this is a rip-off of Misty's fear, but I disagree. I'm afraid of bugs too.
I only like bugs when they don't look like bugs, for example, if they have round paws instead of long creepy legs. Like Sewaddle. He might be bug Pokemon but look at that round head and that cute face and those tiny fangs and tHESE ROUND BRIGHT ORANGE CUTIEWUTIE PAWSIES.
...sorry. I got a little off track there.
Family:
Father- Retired worker at Lavender’s Pokemon tower, mostly spotted around town or in the house keeping everything in order. He was never truly as ‘in shape’ as trainers yet was never truly that unhealthy due to the constant stair climbing he had to do working in the tower to keep all the headstones clean and well kept. He used to climb the tower on the occasion just to see if the new guy is doing a good job, yet after it was changed to a radio tower, he had to stop. He is curious and supportive, and asks Telma many questions whenever she visits. While he isn’t an expert in Pokemon care, he’s learned through his daughter and has cared for any Pokemon she leaves with them. Steel has been his favorite Pokemon type ever since Telma came back from Hoenn, and now owns a Lairon that he had raised from an Aron that she had caught.
Nice! Just like your brother, you add plenty of information about the character's family. Love it!
Mother- Inactive red-head trainer with a love of fire and electric types, often times using them in odd metaphors or insults (“Passion/Heat of a thousand Moltres”, “Are you sure you’re not a Jolteon because it sounds like you’re a prickly assface!”, etc.), met Telma’s father in her traveling years when her Flareon died in Rock Tunnel, and had it buried in Pokemon Tower which she visited every so often. While she isnt understanding with Telma’s love of water, she still loves her all the same. She wished to breed a Charmander from her own Charizard and Ampharos for Telma’s first pokemon, however her Charizard was not female nor did she have any experience in breeding Pokemon and ended up with Mareep, which Telma still took along and loves.
Oh boy, I love red-heads. And good lord I love these metaphors! They're very creative!
But the Flareon...
nnnNOOOOOOoooooooo
Older Sibling- Active trainer that’s 4 years older than Telma, named Quine, they perfer they/them pronouns, and has a trademark refilled potion bottle with water in it to spray people. They are often much closer to home than Telma has traveled and usually stays within Johto and Kanto, striving and training to beat the region’s Elite Four using their only pokemon; Ninetails, Pidgeot, and Raichu. They are still trying to get it perfect and are still collecting all 16 badges and can be compared to an Ace trainer.
Oh my goodness! They're such a great diverse addition to the family!
And hell yeah! Trainer class comparisons! I don't have to repeat myself on this subject, do I?
Thumbs up for this one, really makes the family complete.
Pokemon Party and their Stories:
-Phara the Ampharos (F): The first pokemon Telma ever owned, raising her from a mareep. Phara has the confidence of a hoard of Rapidash facing against a lone Bulbasaur (As Telma’s mother would state it.), and is the clear dominant leader of the rest of Telma’s Pokemon. She is very much proud of herself and her moveset of Power Gem, Thunder Punch, Signal beam and Thunderbolt. However, this pride can get the best of her and can often underestimate her opponents or overestimate how well she could handle them.
As Telma's mother would state it indeed. Nice balance you put there, though! And if I may mention... I really love the Ampharos evolution line... my and my older brother have a bit of a connection with it. We love sheep.
-Elita the Pidgeot (F): The first pokemon Telma caught, although not entirely in the typical way. The first day of her adventure she stepped out onto Route 8, and had found a pidgey that was injured by a previously passing trainer. Telma brought the injured pokemon to the pokemon center, since it wasn’t far of a walk back. The Pidgey refused to leave her shoulder afterwards, so Telma made it official with a Pokeball. Elita is not terribly large comparatively, and specializes in speed and non-physical attacks such as Hurricane and Air slash, only getting in there to use Steel Wing. Because of this, she can dodge physical attacks easier yet her speed only goes so far with other special moves, especially those that never miss. Defenses arent her forte, land a hard hit or two and Elita is down for the count if she doesnt get a Roost in there in time.
Accurate, accurate... Just like Cosmic you really put some proper balance in there.
And may I admit that I have a soft spot for "shoulder-Pokemon"...
-‘Ty’ranitar (Shiny)(M): Found in Telma’s travels around Sinnoh, abandoned and alone in his ball after his previous rash and overly battle competitive trainer dropped and ‘forgot’ about him in an unconfirmed cave. Ty, as Telma has grown to call him, is very timid and docile, even to the point he will rarely ever battle unless given true motivation and reason. Telma had to jump through several hoops in order to replace the old and worn duskball he was left in into a new one, as he wasnt registered under her name with no recorded trade. Ever since Ty came onto the team, Telma became much more aware and observant about other trainers and how they treat their Pokemon. Being on the team was quite an adjustment, yet Ty grew to adore Telma and mirrored the protectiveness Telma has shown him (Mankey see Mankey do, basically). As much as he doesn’t like to battle ‘for fun’, he will be provoked if you hurt his ‘mama’ or his fellow teammates, especially Elita.
I like the backstory, but there's something that I can't help but wonder... why on earth would a trainer leave a shiny behind? Even if they didn't like the Pokemon personally, there's plenty to gain from trading a shiny with someone. So I'm kinda confused about that.
It's a cute backstory though.
-Zwei the Lucario (M): Also on Telma’s travels around Sinnoh, Telma received him as a Riolu from a breeder. He is confident, yet prefers to be the strategic type instead of Phara’s desire of leadership. He is rather balanced, having no definite strengths or weaknesses between attack and defense, however he deals and takes physical hits better than special hits. Zwei tends to want to use powering or repeating moves like Power-up Punch and Bone rush more than Aura sphere and Dragon Pulse, which Telma has adjusted to accordingly.
So not only the Pokemon themselves are balanced... but even the team as a whole is! A Leader-type... a Strategic-type... very nice! This should definitely happen more often.
-Garden the Gardevoir (F): The only Pokemon Telma traded for that she kept actively on her team. Garden was traded to her by an unnamed trainer who was breeding her for a Ralts with a particular egg move and no longer had the need for her. Telma gladly took her in and gave her the nickname based on Garden’s Magical leaf move and overall love of the nature, as uncreative as it may be, the name stuck. Garden became quick friends with Phara, and is definitely the most observant of the team.
Pretty realistic story of trade, since this is literally what I experience in-game with real players a lot.
I like the nickname too!
-Squish the Vaporeon (M): A gift from Telma’s older sibling to celebrate a full year of being a trainer, pre-evolved and pre-named. Squish is the most energetic of the bunch. He’ll gladly drag Telma to the nearest beach, lake, river or otherwise to play around, sometimes bringing along some of the other teammates aswell. He sometimes is a reckless jokester and will mess around with Phara and Garden whenever possible, and sometimes swats at the tails of his other teammates.
Eeveelution! Hell yeah! What more can I say? Squish really fits Telma's interests, doesn't he? Nice, nice.
Other mentionable’s:
Gyarados, Caught early on Kanto but was soon released back where it came from. The huge temperamental Gyarados was a bit too much for Telma to handle at the age of 11. Even years later she doesn’t want to bother with any other Gyarados.
Super realistic!
10 year olds with overpowered monsters have always freaked me out a little. So releasing a chaotic Gyarados at the age of 11 is a very smart move.
Aron from Hoenn, given to Father, now a Lairon
Electrike from Hoenn, given to Mother
Prinplup from Sinnoh, left with parents
Magnemite left with/given to parents, there’s doubts and debates over who truly owns it in the household
As long as it doesn't confuse the Magnemite too much man... wouldn't want it to go rogue, would we?
An unknown amount of water pokemon she’s attempted to catch while swimming, and failed to
I'm not even surprised about this detail.
Dreams/Ambitions: See all there is that the world (mostly the ocean) has to offer. While she isnt keen on keeping too many pokemon in her name, she would still like to see as many different water types as possible, and even dreamed of getting up close to a water-type legendary, like Kyogre. She would like to visit each region at least once, especially if there is a chance that a region has a Pokemon tower similar to the one in Kanto, as it makes her feel more at home. (She isnt as a go-getter as her Mother would be, but she doesn’t mind and will be patient with working toward her goals.)
A pretty and pure goal, I wish you the best of luck, Telma!
Dream Legendary: Meet Kyogre, Suicune, Manaphy and maybe even Zekrom, she doesn’t even have to catch them, she just wants to see them up close and in the flesh and maybe even battle some of them.
Legit. More people should just consider letting legendaries go free after seeing them. Maybe not gameplay-wise, but realistic story-wise.
Dream Shiny: While Telma doesnt particularly strive about matters of genetic probability and sparkles-in-the-sunlight, and would rather catch them for the sake of keeping them safe from those who would mistreat them, she loves seeing blue or purple shinies and would love a shiny Gallade (Telma partially blames Garden for this image)
Would Garden like a pretty blue partner?
Legendaries encountered:
Mespirit, but only in a passing blur.
Regice, was initially terrified and due to her at-the-time team had to flee from the battle.
The regi legendaries frighten me too. I would do the same.
Shinies encountered:
Lantern, didnt want to get to close because ELECTRIC IN WATER, NOPE NOPE NOPE! Cut her losses and got right the flip out of there.
Shit! Good point!! You truly outsmarted me in detail, this time.
Geodude, you can imagine how that one went.
...so how did it go? :D
Pichu, given to older sibling. (They had to battle with their Mother over it, they won with sheer luck)
Oh my god, poor mother. Time to accept your loss of a shiny electric type, Quine is the victor.
Badges:
Kanto- 6, Has to go back a second time for Lt.Surge and Koga
Johto- 7, Couldn’t defeat Bryce due to at-time team
Hoenn- 6, Could not battle Watson seriously and was way more interested in the gym itself, overlooked Norman
Sinnoh- 4, First four, Fantina scared her away
No badges from Unova or Kalos due to lack of being there
I guess my respond to this wouldn't be different from my response to your brother's. Details details.. so many great details! You and your brother are so good at this?! What the hell?!
Non-family Relations:
Big brother figure/Best friend: Aaron, a Johto native that Telma ran into several times and they have bonded immensely over time. When they first met he taught her how a well balanced team will make or break a journey, especially one that reaches through several regions. They’ve parted and ran into eachother so many times she’s lost count. They even ran into eachother in Hoenn and had a friendly battle.
Keep on meeting and keep in touch, buddies!
Close friend: Venaciti, a Kalos native that was exploring Kanto on a one-month vacation. Even though Venaciti was somewhat bitter towards strangers, Telma’s willingness to listen and lack of pestering/prying caught the Kalos-born’s attention. After opening up, the two became good friends. However, they parted when Venaciti’s vacation ended. Telma wants to one day go to Kalos to try and see her again.
Holiday-friendships.. aaah... Definitely go to Kalos, Telma! Definitely do!
Other friends: Telma is horrible with remembering once or twice mentioned names, but she never forgets a story or a voice. Shes listened to quite a lot of people, especially at Pokemon centers or Pokemarts. But again, she cant entirely make a list off the top of her head other than previous mentioned people. She had a long talk with Morty after she battled him, but it didn’t extend past that.
Same, same. Stories and voices are more easily remembered than names they only mentioned once. I know the feeling. I still don't know the name of that girl I met in the train to home once, we both were playing the exact same game on our 3DS at the time. But it turned out she was very "internet shy" and didn't have a single dA or tumblr account or anything of the sort at all!
...sorry, I got off track again.
Significant Other: None, she had a short-lived mini-crush on Venaciti soon before her visit ended, but thats about it.
I ship it. Go to Kalos right now, young lady.
(Thank you for your time! uvu)
Yes, and good lord thank you for this great bio.
Just like Cosmic, you have a great eye for detail and sense of balance. Overall, both yours and Cosmic's bio are absolutely great.
Everything ties together as well, they're not just loose facts, but everything has influence on.. everything. Which is not only interesting, but really realistic as well. I hope this review was useful, or at least fun to read! You two, keep doing what you're doing!

They look so unamused by the other
well, they've known each other since birth (almost), and they've lived together for 1500+ years (i still need to think about the numbers), so yeah, you can see why they are unamused, heh
