Anthony's passion for photography ignited in his childhood as he explored old family photos. These images showcased the powerful kinship bonds captured by his father, the late Clifton Vines, a self-taught photographer. The Vines family has a proud lineage of four generations of photographers, painters, and writers. In the footsteps of his great-grandfather, Cornelius Edwards—who established Toledo, Ohio's first African-American newspaper, "The Observer," in 1922—Anthony boldly launched Ohio's first hip-hop lifestyle magazine, Urban Flava, in 1998.
As a self-taught photographer, Anthony adopts a documentary approach that powerfully captures the unique stories of his subjects. He is significantly influenced by the legendary African-American photographer Gordon Parks, whose creative use of words and imagery inspires Anthony’s work.
