i'm so with you on this. the only things i like about the new trilogy are some of the characters (primarily rey and finn). nothing else works for me, ESPECIALLY not the worldbuilding which is truly awful.
Yes, the worldbuilding was awful! I didn’t even know I was so nitpicky about world building until I was watching and I couldn’t turn the voice in my head that kept going: This Does Not Make Sense. What? Why is that there? WUT?

Your last para is why I liked TLJ best out of this trilogy. It wasn't great, but it tried different things.
Yes, the fact that it tried different things is something I really like about it, I haven’t seen the new one yet (still, dammit) but JJ Abrams is the kind of fan who doesn’t want to expand the world he was given, he just wants to redo it to his own version of the original trilogy.
At least Rian Johnson swung for the fences, and while it missed in some things, I can admire that he made the effort to do so.
@lovecanbesostrange and @musingsofaraven I can’t seem to find your replies in the activities but I think for the Poe example, I think the thing that’s playing in my head when he did that foolish move that got his squadron killed is that I’ve seen that played in the animated series and done, if not better, but at least in a way that didn’t make me want to tear my hair out.
