Skull of a really old male mink! This one had me confused when I took it out of the maceration bucket, its skull is so wide and chunky I thought it was a mislabelled ferret. The baculum was unmistakably mink though!
Compared to a normal american mink and an old ferret, the old male mink on the right side in both pictures
Tundra mammals at the natural history museum in Oslo. Reindeer, wolves, arctic fox, and wolverine
Visited the Malmö museum, where they display all kinds of things. They even have aquariums with living fish! But my favorite part was, obviously, the natural history exhibit
This little marten softmount is done too! I made him 1.5 years ago but never finished sewing up his butt and tail 😳 He was just being cute on my shelf all that time, looking at me with those big wet eyes every time I worked on another project. Two weeks ago I suddenly had both motivation and time, a modern day miracle, so I took that chance to fix him. Now he's back to being cute on the shelf again :')
Marten shouldermount in process, this one was roadkill and was damaged pretty badly. The face was damaged but workable, mainly the road rash between the eyes (now camouflaged a bit) and a large hole underneath one ear. I decided to use the front half as shouldermount and the back half as soft tanning practice
Ermine and mouse at the natural history museum in Oslo. I love it when taxidermy displays tell a story!
Finishing up a few mounts today, I've rebuilt the eyelids and lips with apoxy and then I painted them using the worlds worst airbrush and pan pastels. Next step is cleaning the eyes and then putting a glossy varnish on them to protect them and make them shine, and then these guys are done!
